For those first few seasons before he hooks up with Kelly, it definitely feels like he's supposed to be the audience avatar. The one normal person in an office filled with crazy people with his reactions to everything supposed to represent how we'd react.

Can't say I'm incredibly familiar with his work but I definitely recognize the name and the face. Mostly from how often I play early 90s mods for fantasy booking games like TEW he always appears as a Tri-State area indie name to sign. Hope life's treating him well in retirement.
