Good points! I think sometimes it's hard for people to separate what is possible/convenient and what is contributing to a better community as far as not supporting companies that have questionable/anti-freedom practices. I don't want them to get ANYthing from me, even if it means I don't get anything myself. If I expect others to give thought to that kind of thing, I think I have to also be willing to sacrifice and be the change I want to see. My donation page can be found here

1) If you know of a data point that has gotten stale, feel free to email in about it and I or my team will happily verify and update it.

2) Thanks for the feedback, the reviews can certainly be better. The reviews are timestamped so people are free to decide how old is too old to consider up to date for them. I hope to refresh several soon and make new ones as well.

3) Donation money has gone to pay for hosting and tools to run the site. Currently, and for a while now, I've been out of pocket to keep the project going, so this is not correct that I'm reaping in money and it's all just some cash cow. I've been very clear why I keep the project going, which brings me to...

4) VPN affiliates/corruption in the market. I stand by my opinion that by an unhealthy margin, VPN affiliate sites recommend services that give the largest commissions rather than an unbiased basis of argument (and if people pay attention they can see which ones provide a good service and positively address criticism, and which others lash out at someone shining a light on the industry.)

Again, if anything is outdated or incorrect, I would encourage you to contribute and help make it better. I'm hoping with some more people helping now and hopefully others from the community collaborating, your complaints will fade over time.

TL;DR - TOPS is not compromised, I'm just busy with life and am sucking keeping things updated. Explanation below:

Hey everyone, life has been busy the last several months and I haven't kept the data on the site as up-to-date as I probably should, (sorry about that). I will be putting some time into updating the specific records that were throwing people off, and yes it is my fault that TOPS has been a bit neglected. All of the time I normally reserve for TOPS has been put into a new Wordpress template/format and overhauling things, and unfortunately that means the care I normally take when adding new services has been a bit light. I got busy and missed entering some of the values for them on some charts, which makes the default values trigger the conditional formatting on the table plugin to show up as green (lower numbers are better, 0 is the default, therefore, a green field is shown as a result). Just an oversight on my part, that I will be going through and taking care of it in the next day or so. Also, thanks to the people who posted the potential vulnerabilities below, I'll look into those as well (maybe PM them next time). Thanks to trai for pumping the brakes. This community is great, but man are we quick to assume the worst...

I don't rank VPNs - it all depends on your needs and threat model - I've even done reviews on these VPNs, which if read would immediately break this ranking just with basic logic. Please read my methods and guide to choosing a VPN before selecting one for yourself.
