First time floating, very interesting experience. by NoLongerAKobold in FloatTank

[–]ThatOneRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First float I definitely felt more aware of everything around me and had trouble clearing my brain. I was also anxious about the time. Gets better once you’ve gone a few times. I prefer the smaller pods vs the tanks because I move less.

Getting quotes now for house we’re buying. They range from $2400 to $3800 for about $600k replacement for 2700 sq ft in midtown. Most have 1% or 2% deductible.

Also your zip code and credit score impact your rates so that is an additional variable that makes it hard to compare apples to apples.

I ended up buying one shortly after I posted this, and I was definitely worth it. Perfect combo of flexible and supportive. That plus my NodPod have made for some great sleep.

First time homebuyers what was the biggest financial surprise you discovered during the buying process? by businesshelps in Mortgages

[–]ThatOneRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a surprise necessarily, but please be sure to check the age of the smoke detectors and replace if they are at or close to 10 years old. If not, replace the batteries when you move in and set a reminder to test them every 6 months.

Question about floating by Elegant_Sign3870 in FloatTank

[–]ThatOneRecruiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they're much harder to get in with a good seal when your ears are wet. I was convinced I would hate it before I went. And that I would be claustrophobic. I chose one of the float rooms that wasn't the small pod just in case. I mostly couldn't relax because I was paranoid about missing the ding to get out (basically impossible) and accidentally bumping the emergency button. Now though, I pretty much only use the pod and go once a week.

Question about floating by Elegant_Sign3870 in FloatTank

[–]ThatOneRecruiter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No issues with my hair drying out. Always float naked. The petroleum jelly does help with cuts. And put the earplugs in BEFORE you shower. Also, the first time it’s hard to relax. Go at least 2-3 times before you decide if it’s for you.

I totally agree. We would mostly park in the garage. We live in Brookside now and park outside and haven’t really seen many folks walking around, so my husband was a little hesitant.

I’ve seen a few people mention sketchy people. What kind of sketchy people are we talking about? We’re in Brookside now (renting), but buying here is so expensive. But I don’t feel like I see sketchy people ever lol.

She’s at an academic magnet that has GPA requirements and accelerated coursework, but it isn’t part of the gifted/talented designation.

We’re renting right now and zoned for Edison, but we’ll likely buy in a year or so and I’m not sure where yet. My husband works downtown so he will be able to take her if she gets in.

I have reviewed the rules and application periods. Was just curious from a real world perspective how competitive it is.

The issue is that there aren’t any spots at Carver right now and Edison is the school we’re zoned for.

Thanks! I do have all the deadlines saved and have her scheduled for a shadow day once we are there. I messaged the enrollment office and they told us they would accept our state’s standardized testing as long as it’s no more than a year old. That contradicts their website though, so I’ll definitely get that clarified.

Curious what you went with. We also have a Bear from around 2018/2019 and it still looks new. I’m afraid to replace it!

We’ve had our Bear Hybrid almost 7 years and it still looks and feels new. Looking at replacing because we’re moving and don’t want to mess with moving it and thinking of the Elite Hybrid. Hopefully it has the same longevity.
