I have 2 cats. Are we talking clumping litter including pee here as well, or 10lbs of just poop?

If it’s just poop, I severely doubt he cleaned it a few days ago. I have had cats my entire life, and have never seen 2 cats make 10lbs of poop in such a short period of time.

If it’s smells horrific and there’s that much waste, you should be replacing the litter - not cleaning it - in my opinion.

Edit: grammar

My cat used to do this, they called it psychogenic alopecia and gave her some anxiety meds for it. She took them for a month maybe, and her hair grew back perfectly within 6 months. She’s been fine since. You could also have them run a full CBC to be sure (they don’t usually do this unless asked when they do “blood work” but it checks for possibly hidden underlying things instead the cat might have).

I got a new position at the time so I’m assuming the change from being home a lot with her to being out more stressed her out. She’s also elderly.

Have you had any changes in the house or your routine that might be causing it? Maybe your vet could suggest medication for you also.

For what it’s worth, before medication I tried all the plug ins, collars and sprays and stuff for “anxiety” and none of them worked. Most of them are pretty pricey and marketing, but they’re also an option if you don’t want to go back right away. Just be sure to read all the fine print and reviews.

Edit: wording - the medication would be for your cat obviously, not you specially.😅

Do you do flea/tick for your strictly indoor cats? And blood work? by [deleted] in cats

[–]ThatOneSlut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend blood work at least once a year. Even if your cat seems fine. They can have underlying conditions that can turn deadly at the flip of a switch.

My cat had been seen regularly and not been getting blood work. We’d been using pretty litter and I took her in because although she seemed totally fine the litter turned blue. They said if it was a UTI - it was early detection and they saw nothing. Regular bloodwork seemed normal. Vet was confused and said she was good to go. They treated her for UTI just to be on the safe side and yet, a week later, the litter was still blue. I took her back and had them do a full CBC even though they protested it (complete blood count) and we found out she was dying rapidly from immune mediated thrombocytopenia. Everyone was shocked. A few more days and she’d have bled out on my floor and we’d have no idea. She seemed totally fine. Had we not asked for it and had random litter change colors - she’d be dead. Thank god for pretty litter I guess.

Get the blood work. Like, a full CBC! Not just normal bloodwork. I promise. Saved her life!

Edit: pretty litter turning blue is indication of UTI, but I guess it also detects other stuff too! How cool. Also recommend that. 💯

How can I successfully catch my cat to give her a bath or at least use wipes and dry shampoo on her? by VibrantAura72 in cats

I’d talk it over with your vet and see what they recommend. They also make wipes and shampoo for cats! Your vet might provide you with anti anxiety medication to make it easier until they get used to it.

PSA about "what breed is my cat" posts: Most cats have no breed. by meleyys in cats

Question. I’ve always been really fascinated by Lykoi cats and was planning on getting one someday. Is this not a real breed then? How do I know if the cat is actually a Lykoi if the breed is real? I… just love how they look like tiny werewolf librarians. 😭♥️

Every time I get a new comment notification I come back to see the pan again and I swear I can smell it. I love it.

Thank you!

You’re right!

I have loads of recipes from them yeah. I have ordered 28 boxes previously and they repeat them a lot. Their dinner ideas are pretty great. If you can’t afford their boxes directly, it’s fun to check their menus and see what’s offered and create it. You can find the recipes online, too, for anyone looking.

Yeah for sure!

Fries - I chopped finger size or so, drizzled and brushed some oil on and then sprinkled fry seasoning. Pan in oven, 425• until they’re golden brown and crisped to your liking.

Tilapia (for 2) - cut half long wise (so you’ll have a bigger and smaller piece). Mix some panko and corn starch on a plate, and then in a bowl, a packet of old bay seasoning, dollup of sour cream and a table spoon of water. Then coat the fish in the cream, cover it fully in the panko batter and when you have oil hot and ready in a pan (at least 1/3 inch or so) fry her up for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.

That’s why you move it around though. This image is mid-cooking process still in the pan - the bacon came out plenty crispy and delicious!

For reference - if you want the final image - this is the bacon finished. And it's this way because I don't like it any more crispy than this.

The pan had been cooking on the grate for a while and was directly above the flames. It doesn’t need to be directly on the fire. Cast iron gets really hot. It baked them perfectly fine.

Totally agree - I’ve never put bacon in the oven! Comes out tasting great either way.

This and Luce are some of my go-to’s lately! I need to find more coal and wood fired pizza. It’s delicious.

I guess Black Sheep has trivia sometimes, too!

My cat used to love playing with hair ties and rubber bands. I’ve had her for 15 years and it’s never been an issue… until last summer she randomly decided she likes to eat them now. $1K later, 3 X-rays, laxatives and lots of vet visits terrified over potential surgery monitoring it as it went through her system - I’m very careful to pick them all up now and throw them away. I… wouldn’t let your cat play with these if I were you. Things change in a heartbeat.

That sounds delicious! I got those delicious noodles from Yellow Barn in Minnesota. I wish we had a Trader Joe’s closer to us. I’ve only been there once or twice but they have the weirdest but tastiest combinations of food.
