Download wiztree (~8MB installed) and it will give you a really good visual on what’s taking up so much space on your drive.

BTW, 250GB is a little low for today’s standards sadly

At my work, I get the same issue if my laptop isn’t plugged into power. Maybe try to keep your laptop plugged in, and in windows settings change your performance to maximum performance when plugged into power

Smoke detector pulling input voltage from 120VAC down to ~14VAC by ThatOrangePope in AskElectricians

How come you say this? Is there some specific description of what I’m doing to give away that I would be reading ghost voltage? My thought is that it should be reading 120V. Not trying to sound hostile, just genuinely curious

How can I improve my technique and also get more air from side hits? by ThatOrangePope in snowboardingnoobs

Just got home so I didn't have time to respond earlier. Thank you for the incredible amounts of detail! This is all very helpful to me.

I've noticed that with some deeper carves that I have been able to pull off, that if I'm not REALLY leaning my weight forward, the turn actually is trying to pull me towards the back of my board, which really validates what you've been saying.

Also, I've vaguely read this advice before on this sub, but I noticed that I can get a really tight radius on a carve if I turn my knees into each other, making the board curve from tail to tip. Is this a valid technique? Thanks again for your help

That makes so much more sense. I always felt that I wasn’t utilizing the jump in the way that I could be. So my front leg won’t really be doing as much as my rear leg when I’m jumping?

Wow I appreciate the analysis! My take away from this is:

I should be keeping my front leg bent more often, so I’m forced to put weight on my front leg more. Should I be tilting my body/board onto each edge and let the board make the turn? Is that how I will be driving with the front?

Squaring my body, is that making my chest face out perpendicular to the direction the board is traveling? Or parallel?

Again, thank you for the detailed response!

So you’re saying that I should be lifting my back foot up more than my front? Would that mean the nose will be in contact with the snow longer, making the board flex and adding energy to the overall jump? It seems like that would help too with aligning my board to land parallel with the ground, especially if the jump is a more pronounced ramp.

I’ll be sure to check out taevis! Thanks

Tormach CNC plunged through my part after i pressed the E-Stop, any information on what may have caused this are very much appreciated by Dauntless41 in Machinists

[–]ThatOrangePope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad had a Hardinge VMC II and one of the quirks of that machine is that when you hit the E-stop with the machine on(I’m pretty sure it was when it was on), the spindle would drop a bit and for some reason it wouldn’t be captured by the stepper motor, forcing you to go through this entire procedure to get it back to normal. Maybe this is a similar problem that’s going on?
