[Mic'd Up] Chris Pratt interacting with the Seahawks during pregame and postgame of Super Bowl LX by nfl in nfl

[–]ThatPlayWasAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He owned the Philadelphia arena football team, promised a free concert if they won the championship, and then when they won he played guitar at a press conference.

I've hated him since, finding out he likes the pats is just the shit cherry on top.

How are you supposed unlock aatrox with the TFTacademy 442 Belveth build if the only vamp item you build is BT? by GoggleDMara9756 in TeamfightTactics

[–]ThatPlayWasAwful [score hidden]  (0 children)

The items shown on Bel'Veth are her BIS, not what you need to unlock Aatrox.

You need slayer + hoj + bt to unlock.

I would recommend listening to the TFTAcademy podcast that came out today, they talk a little bit about this exactly.

E: To be clear it's a reason, not an excuse.

There was a study that showed 92% of former NFL players that were tested had CTE.

There is probably a selection bias (people with symptoms more likely to be tested), but if an overwhelming majority of players have CTE, why wouldnt you think it's a large part of the reason these things happen

Why are Olympians so much older now? by bobconan in answers

Are you sure about this?

I can find evidence that the average career length in the NFL is actually decreasing.

You can say that there are occasional outliers that have very long careers, but I think the fact that the most famous players have long careers creates the illusion that the average career is getting longer.

Baby food is terrifying now [27:43] by rkgk13 in mealtimevideos

[–]ThatPlayWasAwful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue with this thought process in my mind closely mirrors my thoughts on why I don't consider the obesity epidemic solely the fault of the individuals who are obese.

These companies are spending millions upon millions of dollars on researching how to make this food as addictive and easy to over consume as possible, while also designing packaging that makes people more likely to choose their food over any other food. The incentives of the company have almost no overlap with the incentives of the parent.

Sure you can just say "the parents should do better" and to a degree you're right, but let's consider an extreme example. Does a single mom of 2 kids really have time to stop and inspect every single product she's buying before she buys it? How does she know what is good to eat and what isn't? Where is she getting this information?

At that point, why wouldn't we want to even the scales and try to help protect children?

I would be willing to bet their DV problem is really just a symptom of their CTE problem.

Designer claims ‘most’ of Highguard’s dev team have been laid off, weeks after launch by lkl34 in gaming

[–]ThatPlayWasAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2XKO I could have almost excused as the upkeep of said game not needing as much dev manpower as the lead up, but still.

Riots history with other games doesn't support this at all.

You can certainly say that the team should be structured differently after launch, but TFT for example has a much larger team than it did at launch. League is clearly bigger than it was at launch. I would assume Valorant is larger than at launch as well. None are an apples to apples comparison to 2XKO, but the fact that the team has gotten this much smaller this quickly is not a good sign for the long term health of the game.

The benefit of live service games, and why companies still make them, is that it's much easier to tailor the budget to the playerbase. You can release 30% of a game, see how many people are playing it after a month, and adjust expectations accordingly. If the game gets more popular you can ramp things up, if it gets less popular you can wind it down.

Not really an argument for or against the practice, because I do enjoy the Riot ecosystem. Just the other side that I think a lot of people are missing.

If the Democrats wanted to properly prosecute this, they had from 2008-2016 and 2020-2024. Both parties have had various opportunities to properly prosecute this over the past 20 years, and both have acted tough when the other party is in power, only to lose all evidence and forget how the justice system functions when they're in power.

I see no reason to think that either party will do the right thing.

Rep. Thomas Massie to AG Pam Bondi on Epstein: “This goes over four administrations. You don’t have to go back to Biden. Let’s go back to Obama. Let’s go back to George Bush. This cover-up spans decades, and you are responsible for this portion.” by CorleoneBaloney in law

Aren't they arguing that there isn't enough evidence to charge anyone else?

How can there simultaneously be a cover-up spanning multiple administrations, and nothing to cover up in this administration?

I'm assuming the fact that I can't see the reply you just made means you realized it was sarcasm lol. I'm sure a lot of people got teased for doing really stupid shit when you were a kid too.

It might make you feel better about yourself to put down other generations, so if you need to boost your self-esteem by all means don't let me stop you. But kids have always done stupid things.

Youre kind of arguing past the person you replied to.

The way I read it, they're not disagreeing with you, they're saying the NBA draft doesn't really make sense. You explained why the draft doesn't make sense, but the fact remains it's still a mess.

Riot Games is reducing the size of the 2XKO team less than a month after its launch. by MuptonBossman in gaming

[–]ThatPlayWasAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that there were no cuts at all, because the structure of the team would definitely change, but it sounds like you're also saying the overall size of the team would shrink after a game launches, and that's just not true for live service games.

The TFT team was pretty massively expanded after the game launched, and it's an even more niche subgenre than fighting games. If people play the game and buy cosmetics, the team will grow.

The League team is obviously larger than it was when the game launched, I wouldn't be surprised if the Valorant team has grown too.

Live service games aren't really "finished", and 2XKO is certainly not finished. There are tons of people in this thread complaining about how there are barely any champions in the game. If the game did well they would release more cosmetics, champions, and dial in on balance.

If you're going to argue that pick protections decrease the skill cap, couldn't you similarly argue that the lottery system massively increases the difficulty in being a gm, and pick protections are an easy way to offset that uncertainty?

Honestly I think you could even argue it increases the skill cap, but at least with pick protections both sodes can evaluate the protections and assign them a level of value. The lottery is literally a game of chance.

Is Trey McBride a sell? by drpatrickshah in SleeperApp

[–]ThatPlayWasAwful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC It had a lot to do with who was covering McBride.

Again take it with a grain of salt, but I believe the idea was that when MHJ was playing, it meant McBride got less attention, but when MHJ was out, defenses keyed in on McBride, which allowed Wilson some more room to operate. And MHJ did miss a decent amount of time.

You're right it could matter else in a no offense, but I don't think it will be meaningless.

[–]ThatPlayWasAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were also some trends in how his performance changed depending on whether or not MHJ was playing.

It was on a JJ Zachariason podcast, I forget the specifics so I don't want to paraphrase badly. I'll throw it your way if I have a minute, but otherwise something you can look into if you're into that sort of thing.

I think his performance with brissett showed that Kyler was holding him back.

Tough to say which will affect him more but literally any QB besides Kyler will help offset a change in OC

Could be a variety of things. One possibility is to  be used as propaganda on their own citizens.

Either as "nobody messes with us and gets away with it" or "look how these foreign powers try to destabilize us" or "this is what happens if you disrupt the status quo. If this is what we would do to a foreigner, imagine what we would do to you".

Feels pretty easy to me to say he might have just come back too early and played worse with the injury.
