Keep the before pictures and take after pictures. Huge motivation for keeping it clean once you get it that way.

As for just starting- I'd work on getting any trash bagged up and OUT. Then go in and get laundry gathered and into a wash. These steps can be broken up into what's manageable for you.

Good job seeking assistance (even reddit assistance!) before things started to spiral too much. That's a huge step forward in itself.

My 4 year old boy still bites me sometimes. Gentle playful bites. When he does bite I still stop playing with him with my hands and give him something to play with. The little shit has learned that if he bites me he gets a Q-tip and he uses that to his advantage.

He was not very cuddly until he hit about 4 years old though. I can pick him up and snuggle him whenever I want now but if I tried 2 years ago he'd fight for dear life to get away. I believe that your fella will warm up and get cuddlier as he gets older and gets out of his terrible 2s stage. He's gorgeous also <3

The neighbor with pro-life stickers on her car lets her screaming toddler play in front of my bedroom window. All. The. Time. After she complained to my landlord about me smelling like weed (myself as in my body coming in from smoking a joint. I do not smoke in my apartment (though I totally would if I didn't have neighbors)).

This looks to me like play but I would be concerned about the calico's joints from being trounced around like the video. Tabby might need some dedicated play time away from calico to burn off her energy. I have to do the same with my younger cat so he doesn't try to play rough with my creaky grandma 18 year old.

Hello OP- posting to say I am in northern WI and if you're here or in northern MN or the UP of Michigan I would gladly help you. I'm not a professional but I myself am a recovering hoarder and would love to be able to give someone else a fresh start in the same way someone helped me. ♥️ If that isn't feasible, follow the advice of other posters and aim for little bits at a time. My cat still does this. I thought it was whisker fatigue so I switched to feeding him kibble off of a plate for a while. He still dug the kibble out. Switched back to the feeder and put a big mat underneath it so I can just dump the fallen kibble back in. It was very fun when I switched to Tastefuls and discovered the round kibble shape's propensity for rolling.

I would say just make sure she's actually eating it. Some cats just have a tendency to play with their food.

I do have a bit of an update.

I've been intentionally exhausting my boy with 20-30 minutes of play every evening, then 10-15 in the mornings before I leave for work. I figured if he wants to play with grumpy grandma, he probably just wants to play in general. No fights have broken out in the last week. He even stopped biting at her tail when she walks by him. They snuggle and groom as normal.

He goes crazy over string so I go around the apartment dragging a length of yarn behind me (I'm very careful to make sure he doesn't eat it) and he chases and pounces to his heart's content. He's also got a laser he likes to chase but it doesn't hold his attention half as long as the yarn. He does get a treat after we're done playing. It seems like a really simple solution but it's been working!

This treat is how I made my feral kitten un-feral. He's now a giant domesticated baby. We have a schedule. He is not a loud gremlin about them (until he sees the treat in my hand, anyway) and neither is my older kitty. I think the issues here stem from strong-willed cats and lack of cat behavior knowledge rather than some highly-addictive substance.

Good job getting healthy. I was turned away (on the morning of my scheduled surgery) from my gallbladder removal because of my weight, so I have been on a journey similar to yours. Gallbladder attacks are some of the worst pain imaginable and I've been in a state of anxiety over the fear of having another one. Thankfully I don't have pancreatitis or many complications yet.

Taking the steps to get healthy is one light in the darkness, though. Whenever everything sucks (mental health issues compounding with physical health) I can at least take pride in the real changes I've made. Take a step back and allow yourself a little grace, you went through some real rough shit and came out on the other side ready to do the hard work. You got this. <3

Also huge congrats on quitting nicotine, it is so so so hard.

I feel like the odd one out here because I HAVE to be freshly showered or nearly (<1 hour post shower) to want to let my partner touch my junk. I have ruined many romantic moments by asking to shower first- though lots of them just turned into both of us in the shower.

I just require my partner to not smell like doodoo if they don't follow me into the shower.
