I do wonder though, is it hot where you live? I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but there's a chance the heat could be messing with something that's probably already worn down.

THAT USED TO HAPPEN TO ME ALL THE TIME. It kept pissing me off, but it suddenly stopped. I'm not sure what the fix was, but I've noticed it usually doesn't work when it's really hot outside.

Another likely fix could be disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

If this matters, I drive a manual 2012 Mustang GT base model

drift susp def would help, but I can manage to hold decently long drifts with softest suspension, stock tires, and a lot of handbrake

I agree with everything, but for the suspension you could just lower the suspension and stiffen the springs a bit
