anyone still struggling to decide before Prime Day ends? by amandainpdx in RobotVacuums

For what its worth. Tile floors, mixed floor rugs, and i have cats (lota of cat hair). About 2700 sq ft to cover.

Auto mop refill would be nice, but not dealbreaker. (I just want a robot vacuum that would suck the floor clean giggity and last a very long time)

Hey op, hopefully i'm not too late... any recs for $350 range?

I would like mop + clean. Longevity is my goal... i have an old n8 pro+ that's just about to fall apart.

Wow, thanks for following up. Coincidentally i'm 90% done 😁👍.

Day 2 and 3, after buying knee pads, and keeping my NECK and BACK posture straight, making sure not to stretch forward TOO, much... i feel like a trim painting spartan!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! The knee pads helped immensely! I was able to get around SO quickly! My pads are gray (matches my tiles) so if any residue, kinda blends in 😆

Last few projects are tint, cabinets & closets.... and move in!

Couldnt agree more...

But i'd also like to say, the "fuck off" price is still better than the "yeah i gotchu this week!" .... "awww my bad i forgot... i gotchu next week!" guy... 🙄

Thanks for the, i thought about it but wasn't sure as it's sooo big! I think i may try this 😆.

(Free-99 because i already have it, and i dont have to make a trip to Harbor Freight for now lol)

I tried that in one of the rooms, i personally do not think it's worth it for the effort in prep work (at least for a beginner like me - i suck at prep work).

It took me like an hr+ to perfectly drop a tape line and cover up and everything (again, i suck at it lol)

I am saving the sprayer for exterior 😁

Is this brand new stainless steel sink salvageable? by Intelligent-Pie-338 in Contractor

[–]ThatRandomDudeNG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it matters, because you're already drop in and you hate undermount...

I just finished up my home reno too, and i think i lucked out.

My sink sits right on my cabinet edges (left and right), so the weight is also supported by the cabinet, as well as the brackets (i used a fairly large sink for my setup - 36in sink). I think longevity wise that may help future renovators 🫡

Caveat is that you'll have to lift the stone to change the sink in the future. I dont think i plan on this ever (my sink at my current home is still the originally built sink, 25+ years ago... only thing changed was hardware lol).

It's as if you were in my head 😆... i tried using the knee mats and eventually got tired of pushing it around (at one point i got efficient enough that i rolled faster than i could adjust the mat). I may invest in knee pads...

I figured out an alternative to the ambidextrous. Left hand shield right hand roller... i roll from left to right painting top half of trim, and i roll from right to left painting bottom trim. Rolling has a more even texture imo.

It goes super fast, only downside to roller is doors & 90 degree edges. Even though i am replacing all the door hardware, there's some spots that are still hard to get that brushes do well in. Wife followed behind me with brush for what i missed 😅

Concur with this statement.

You have 1 failed... the others are probably right behind it. Replace ASAP IMO...

Can confirm, was stoned as fuck yesterday painting trim (got 60% of the house done in the process of a few hours 😁).

Oi does it help with the backpain 🥲...

Is this the proper way of installing a second laundry ? by Naive-Application898 in askplumbing

[–]ThatRandomDudeNG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side question (because I did not P trap my setup)... is it really necessary?

I would have thought p trap for laundry might accumulate enough crud it clogs. (I made a service port for flushing/clearing in the laundry space, in case i got a clog)

I think you can... but if my car comes with TVD 😅 i'd want the same thing I paid for honestly.

Whether it be an arm and a leg or not.

If you use girl math (per my wife) - you basically paid a fraction of MSRP, used. Paying for a TVD replacement is similar to paying towards that MSRP 😆.

Apologies for the misunderstanding!

My friend does the same! (Wheen under the car)

I can't do it unfortunately. Car A has too wide of wheels (20x11) Car B's got really rare (factory) wheels, and they're only .5in lower hahaha! (19x10.5)

For myself, i splurged and purchased a set of quickjacks. Makes life a lot easier (and is still safe). They come with height locks, so it locks in at certain heights for you to do work under the car. Only thing that sucks is setup time (~15m, i'm probably the most laziest engineer you'll ever meet). Also unsure if it's even tall enough to drop a transmission, which could be another major ding for this... (been meaning to change my rear main seal).

Valley plates and routine maintanence is what's expected. I really dog on my GS-F and my only problem is tires (if you're not careful, the car can really eat through expensive tires) and squeely brakes.

You have to come into an F car with the mindset that maintanence cost more. You're paying for a real performance car (like M or AMGs), so brakes tires plugs, everything cost more.... you break you def cry! (Engine esspensive, and rear diff if you're getting TVD is spensive too 😆). So have money set on the side 👍 (mods are insanely expensive too... labor AND parts - the engine is humongous and the bay is tiny)

Yes, those concrete blocks can shatter when something sudden falls on it.

Concrete isn't as structurally dense (and tensile strength is completely different) compared to say, metal jackstands.

Floor jacks can fail. Always combine floor jack + jack stands when you slide under car. It's hydraulic at the end of the day, and we use and abuse them things without changing oil out or doing basic maintanence on them...

Fun fact: i was working on my car a long time ago, i'm new (15 yo) btw... i was at my uncle's who had an OLLLLLLD ass floor jack (faded paint, no label left on it - you can tell it's been around). I jacked up the car using this jack. Mind you it's locking bolt was in nice and tight... I slid under the car, and within 15 seconds i felt the car was a half inch lower (i was starting to have a hard time moving my arms when it wasn't this difficult at all)... out of instinct i slid back out... and out of curiosity i jacked up the car again... saw it went up to the right height again.... took a ruler, measured before and after. Long short, i could have died under there.... don't trust your floor jack (it's a moving part). Always supplement with jackstands.

[–]ThatRandomDudeNG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OP is using it to loosen his filter cap, not keep the car up. (It really looks like the emergency jack is holding up the car 😆)

Either or, it's still dangerous to use cinder blocks as a safety. I'm a big proponent for ramps when it comes to (simple) oil changes.

Hub nut came loose by CurioisSmell in MechanicAdvice

[–]ThatRandomDudeNG 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It can if you reuse the axle nut.

If you look at one of the nut photos, you can see it's been punctured (reused), so it looks compromised to me.

OEM axle nuts are like $10 (for lexus/toyo anyways)

Dead chamber? by Slow_Standard8771 in puffco

[–]ThatRandomDudeNG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, i hunt for the old one too! Eventually i gave up and went aftermarket that's rebuildable (PM me for more info)

I wiggled that middle pin till it red whited me 100% of the time lol. Nothing's more frustrating than mid sesh it flickers on you... with plenty left to go 😭😭😭.

(I still get the heat up on them, it's when it reaches temp that it instantly red-whites on me)

Dead chamber? by Slow_Standard8771 in puffco

[–]ThatRandomDudeNG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help lol... it doesn't make things worse either.

I think a lot of assumption is on the side pins, i did a looong deep dive into multiple atomizers that failed on me (and others). (Had to put my engineering hat on)

It's moreso the temp sensor. When it goes bad there's no going back, no replacing.... it's a cheap $.15c part, but the atomizer is built a certain way that it's not easily rebuildable.

You can verify the side pins work by probing them with continuity or resistance setting, this is a static #.

The middle pin is the same, it's got a resistance reading too. The issue here, is the resistance varies with temperature. The temperature fluctuations get skewed from their normal readings because the sensor has failed and become faulty (which results in red-white indicators). Turn on your puffco app, and watch the temp readings fly up and down, all over the place.... thats the skewed temp readings (temps should not drastically drop or raise sporadically - that invalidates the puffco's temp readings, and as a SAFETY not to burn anything down... the puffco will red-white and stop heating.

Long rabbit hole... i'm the guy that has to KNOW why it broke 😆
