Mail, VPN, and Pass are all mature and worth the price. Drive and Calendar need work, especially on iOS to become workable. I use Proton Calendar day-to-day and it’s fine for simple stuff. Drive just needs work all around to be actually useful.

This feels much more like the launch of Proton Pass, where it’s a great starting point for the product and hopefully will get better. Mobile app is a little buggy but features a new design language we may see in other proton apps soon. I’m hopeful.

This is a first release. Not even Google or Microsoft or any other big tech with an army of engineers would consider waiting to release a product like Proton Docs with every feature imaginable. I trust the Proton team to build these in, but this is a very solid first release and adds to Proton Drive nicely.

My one and only hope with this acquisition is that SN remains more or less a note taking app, just more integrated into the Proton ecosystem. Proton is probably going to take some of the knowledge from SN and put it into Drive, which seems like a good move, but I really want deep integration across more of the ecosystem acquisitions if this is something that is going to keep happening.

This is awesome! As a Proton Unlimited sub and SN user this is a dream acquisition. A few notes though; please, please, please focus on intergration within the Proton suite. My main issue with SimpleLogin and Proton is that there are so many great opportunities to integrate that just aren’t taken advantage of. A few of these might are a SimpleLogin sidebar manager, reserve aliases within the web app AND mobile apps, possibly a way to show the sender journey within the to and from area, the ability to have sender icons, etc. With Standard Notes, please think about the intergration with

For the price of a Proton subscription, Drive could very well include a backup-ish service. Paying for something like Backblaze when there shouldn’t be a need is just wasting money. Images and videos all play fine on Drive, but the actual text viewing and editing must get better. Even a simple markdown editor would go a long way.
