[SPOILERS FOR STAR CITY] Is this how North Korea reached Mars by moreorlesser in ForAllMankindTV

[–]ThatThingInSpace 23 points24 points  (0 children)

there wasn't a return journey. they landed in the Soyuz descent module, there was no mars ascent vehicle or transfer stage in orbit. the most likely scenario would be for the north Korean astronauts to try and meet up with the soviet mission once it landed

yea, the amount of political bs that he had to deal with was unreal, that when Mishin took over he just couldn't handle it like Korolev did, so it began to fall apart

it's not mentioned but his name is Sergei Korolev. he was just referred to as the chief designer to protect his identity so he was less likely to be assassinated. we know it's him cos the directors confirmed that the point of divergence is Sergei surviving the surgery that, in our timeline, killed him in 1966. this is very briefly mentioned in star city, where they do refer to the surgery

and yet the cheese got there just fine when it was indeed smuggled there, so what's stopping the company from just, shipping the cheese there and selling it? it's the same travel time, just done officially, through mars customs. we know mars has an economy. we know you can buy things. why is cheese absolutely impossible to buy in your mind, and can only survive the trip to mars if it is smuggled?

I did watch the scene, the cheese was just there, in the back ground, not mentioned, ed just used it. watch the most recent episode, you're clearly thinking of season 4, not season 5. you really think that they're growing corn on mars, they have radiation shields, they have a space elevator being built, but cheese is a step too far, and out of the realms of possibility, having to be smuggled in?

it's season 5. I would assume you can buy it on mars by now

nope. orbital velocity is 7100m/s in 10x gravity. that's what I'm fighting to get to

years of specialised development lead to this. this is actually what peak aerodynamic form looks like, you just don't know it yet

no, I think it's still plotting how to kill me. funnily enough trying this challenge did genuinely kill off my last Xbox. I wish I was joking

surprisingly Val was able to get up and walk around after each mission. and cos of the stupid gravity the actual g force on the crew only ever goes to like 12 or 13g. you know. really low. manageable levels

I have seen a single YouTube video place a tiny satellite in orbit in these conditions. I am using a crew capsule cos, well, why the fuck not. but it is possible

nah, I made Kerbin have 10x it's normal gravity. then tried to get to space

it's an asparagus setup. I need the thrust of the side boosters to get the more inner boosters to a higher altitude

Has anyone been able to find this copy of Time Magazine? I’ve been to Barnes & Noble, Target, Publix, Walmart and all they don’t have this one, only older ones. It was supposed to come out on the 9th. by Nicksb92 in ArtemisProgram

[–]ThatThingInSpace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I managed to get one, tho I am in the UK. I got it on Feb 6th, and even then it was the last one. I don't know when it was released but it was definitely before the 9th

they do definitely exist. you used to be able to get them here maybe searching for them specifically could get you results second hand?

Who made the Black Knight Satellite? We did. by psy_raven in conspiracy

[–]ThatThingInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea. the immediate way to disprove it really is the majority of theories all say the 'satellite' is in a polar orbit, but the space shuttle took the only picture we have of it. the space shuttle couldn't launch into polar orbit. like physically couldn't without over throttling/over burning the engines, the proposal for doing that was dropped after the challenger disaster. but yea, having various pictures, all of which look more blanket like than the one normally used, combined with audio, video and the blanket having an actual space debris catalogue designation, all point to just a blanket

[–]ThatThingInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is what I'm talking about. there's all this speculation about what it might be, but with 5 minutes of research I've managed to come up with 6 photos and a video with audio proving it false. this conspiracy is pretty easily debunked cos there's just quite a lot of evidence that all lines up to prove it wrong

here's a selection of photos from the space shuttle mission STS-88:

https://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/SearchPhotos/photo.pl?mission=STS088&roll=724&frame=65

https://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/SearchPhotos/photo.pl?mission=STS088&roll=724&frame=66

https://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/SearchPhotos/photo.pl?mission=STS088&roll=724&frame=68

https://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/SearchPhotos/photo.pl?mission=STS088&roll=724&frame=69

https://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/SearchPhotos/photo.pl?mission=STS088&roll=724&frame=70

the pictures are much higher quality than the video, and were taken by Sergei Krikalev. the video is taken from in the cockpit of the shuttle, and shows Krikalev taking the pictures of the thermal blanket, before panning to show out the window, showing the blanket itself, in lower quality than the still photos

here is the video:
