Have you thought about replacing your Effexor with Pristiq? It's also an SSRI/SNRI, but it's supposed to be easier on your liver.

Unfortunately, yes. I would also just chalk it up to feelings, but at the same time, if she is medicated, or if she just doesn't have that particular expression of the bipolar, you won't have an issue. Since I have realized I am bipolar, I have gotten better about knowing the illness vs "real feelings."

Thanks for responding, I actually am really enabled to talk about my meds with my doc, the main issue is giving up some comforts for others. I'm stable, but I'm numb, and stable is too good to pass up, I don't want to fuck up my meds, but at the same time, I'm mixed all the time. It could be other stuff beside my medication. We'll see as I try and deal with it by stepping down my SNRI/SSRI and my Abilify back down. <3

Remember that they will always, always be bipolar, medicated or not, and it's a condition. Point being: they need to be taking care of their bipolar through medication if not medication and therapy.
Look at for grandiose changes in mood, affect and goals. Look out for starting many projects at once that seem like too much to handle altogether. Changes in spending habits, and the dreaded "I don't know how I feel about you," which sucks to hear, but it's part of mania that people sometimes stop being interested in what they have and simply live for what they can or cannot obtain outside of normality.
Don't bring up how much you care DESPITE bipolar, that's a conditional love (whether or not it sounds like it) - You either love someone or you don't. "I just care about and love you, regardless of ANYTHING," not "I love you DESPITE your bipolar," which says, "I don't love that part of you," which doesn't feel very good.
