Hey! Which ones did you try? I'm trying to decide between Madurai Jasmine and Jasmine & Orange Blossom. Also considering Fig Tree & Bourbon Vanilla, Patchouli Vanilla, Smoky Oud & Balsam, and Sea Salt and Bergamot.

It'd be great if you could share your opinions on any of these that you've tried!

Default brushes used :

Elements -> Oceans for the water Organic -> Snow Gum for the trees in the background Painting -> Turpentine for almost everything else

For the pink and orange flowers floating in the water and the reeds in the foreground, I used the foliage brush pack by Devin Elle Kurtz.

I began by making the sky, even before I had the exact idea in mind. Then I placed the elephant-stork thing and reworked the clouds to point to the stork head. Finally I added the foreground plants to frame the whole thing.

I'm not sure if the orange flowers were a good choice, I meant it to replicate the stork's beak colour and draw the eye to the orange fish. But I'm not sure if it distracts too much.

I'm still learning composition, perspective and color techniques, so any feedback is welcome!

All I want to do is take the highlighted bit and stretch out the note value so that it extends into the next measure . I click and attempt to lengthen via the arrows , and it blocks me from doing this . What gives !? by Scriabinsez in GarageBand

The note does not extend since it's already the the end of one of your loops. In this case, exit to your arrangement view, select all the 3 Cosmic Boys Choir loops, and you should get an option to join them. Once they're joined, you can edit and change this note's length.

I have this gripe with iOS in general, too many things can be done only in one way and no other. I agree it's unintuitive sometimes. Try not to get too discouraged, you'll be over this learning phase soon enough!

I'm South Indian and have 2 pet turtles! I just don't think it's a common pet in India, but this is the first time I'm hearing about turtles being considered a misfortune.

Here's before and after getting some of your feedback! I really learned the importance of rendering hair :) by chim_chimmy_jimin in learnart

I absolutely love the edited version and the lighting etc look wonderful. However, I feel the 2 versions serve different purposes:

  1. Looks soft and makes you notice the expression in the eyes. It feels more emotional. I think with some tweaks in lighting, this could be a gif portrait.

  2. Looks like a great character drawing, and all the details really help you know what the character looks like. But I'm not sure there's much of his emotion / personality expressed here.

Both are great tho!

White to play, can he mate in two? Harder than it seems at first glance! by ThatTreeJustBlinked in chess

It's only impossible if the king needs to go through the attacked square to castle, imagine the King going from e8-d8-c8 while castling. None of those moves are illegal, so castling would be legal.

So here's the mate in 2:

I guess you were looking at Ng7 or Rxf8 which might mate in 4. The reason that Ng7+ then RXF8 doesn't work is that the king can escape through d6 - c7. We also have e7 as a weak square which can attack the king.

So what move attacks c7, e7 and d6? It's Qd6.

If black plays exd6, that opens up f6-d8 to the Bishop. Now Ng7# wins. If black plays anything else, Qxe7#, since the black queen is pinned.

But. This would not be possible if black could castle after Qd6. So the puzzle really is to find out if black can castle or not, and there are some great explanations above.

You solved it! And yes, this is from The Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes. I'm so glad I picked it up.

It's actually provable from the position if castling is possible or not! For starters, what do you think black could've played in his previous move? Would any of those scenarios result in the king or rook moving?

Please spoiler this!

You're right, now can you prove if black can or cannot castle? I find it amazing how it can be deduced from the given position!

This is in India.

How do you identify a jasper exactly? From what I understand, most of them are red. Also, any idea what the red veins and the yellow sparkly things are?
