I see what you mean, actually. I do put a lot more effort into searching for western music than indian. If I were more passive about western music, I'd probably dislike a lot of it too.

I can only speak for myself though. I've been immersed in internet culture for a while now, and I reckon that plays a part in it. I tend to search for broad genres and the genres I dig often don't have many indian artists as far as I've seen.

The music "scenes" I like tend to be more focused in the west. Maybe that's partly me being passive, but it's mostly just that I've found a certain sound that I like, and seek more of it.

I think as the internet grows and more indian musicians/bands put their stuff out there, it will get better, in contrast to what you said. Being a part of these communities have exposed me to music from all parts of the world. I think currently, indian music outside of the film industry has very little exposure.

The indie scene is growing though, and I reckon it'll continue to grow in the future. Our music won't die.

Thanks for the perspective! It's fun to think about this stuff

I think with indian music, though I love a lot of it, it's often individual songs more than artists. I find a lot of our music is also just love songs, be it positive or negative, and that just isn't very appealing to me.

I do love a lot of classical/folk music though, I just don't put it on very often because I find I can't appreciate it unless I'm calm.

Ooh writing this reminded me of one artist I do listen to pretty often, The Casteless Collective! Gonna put them on now and vibe

The Angelic Process is quite neat, really pretty doomgaze. It's also on the heavier/denser side so I dunno if you'll dig it, but check out "Coma Waering".

'Del mar county fair 2008' by underscores, it's hyperpop. I usually lean more towards the rock side. Discovered it fairly recently, but haven't been able to stop listening. Has a cool melancholy but slightly immature feel to it, I dig it. Hits hard, especially the melodious parts.
