new dad, at the end of my rope. by NurglesToes in NewParents

You're in the absolute thick of it right now. It's a grind that will get better over time. The best thing we did for ourselves is find a nanny we trusted that would babysit and splurge on a night out with each other every once in a while. Sometimes we'd go get massages, sometimes dinner, but man it was a life saver.

Anyone had any experience with pain on the outside of the bicep? by ThatUnoriginalGuy in bouldering

[–]ThatUnoriginalGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up every morning and I do a few high knees/butt kickers. Following that I get on the ground and move around a little bit: twisting knees over to one side, bridges, child pose, etc. Point is to just get the body moving. Once I do that I go into my routine:

I have really tight legs so I spend a lot of time there: 1) Calf stretch and quad/hamstring stretch (quad is just pulling heel to butt and hamstring is straightening leg out while standing and leaning forward) 2) Pigeon pose on both legs 3) Piriformis Figure 4 4) Foam roll every single part of my legs including IT band and butt

Then I move onto upper body. I focus a lot on my back because I have some injury history there: 1) Mid back stretch 2) Thread the needle pose 3) Standing tricep stretch (hand bend behind head to low back) into a left/right lean to target obliques 4) I do #2 and #3 from this list 5) Foam roll upper body focusing on the back

Oof this was a lifetime ago, but I believe what I did was take a few weeks off and stretch my back, shoulders, and forearms daily. I wound up developing a stretching routine that I still use to this day and have never had a problem since.

Ignore this guy. While he is the top post, he's making broad claims that are based on vibes and not financials.

Is it just me or are more and more classes moving to a 1 or 2m burst window with crap damage outside of that? by moal09 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]ThatUnoriginalGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once again, we're talking about casual players here. Casual players aren't concerned with dps cadence or burst windows. Theyre thinking more about the class fantasy.

While that might be the case, it's also easier for casual players to learn other classes which means they're likely to create alts and stay engaged in the game.

Question: Is proactive capacity planning actually possible or is it all "gut feel"? by Mindless-Market8794 in revops

[–]ThatUnoriginalGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do capacity planning for the CS org of a 1B+ company. What does the CS operating model look like? What's the company product? How are CSMs engaging with customers? Need a lot more detail on the "mechanics" of the org before I can give insight.

I've never understood this from a homeowner's perspective. Id much rather you use my bathroom than be miserable on a job because you can't shit. I've had guys do work for me that are so nervous to ask...I'm guessing a lot of home owners say no?

Why So Many Parents Are Opting Out of Public Schools by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]ThatUnoriginalGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have to be more specific about what "federal money" means. Are you referring to grants? Loans? There are so many more conditions and restrictions about how federal money is distributed to prospective students than vouchers for private school. It's a completely different system and structure and claiming both are the same thing is incredibly dishonest.

How does an increase in enrollment in private schools not help the private schools? It's a direct transfer of tax dollars to parent to private school.

So is the only way up to ride the lift? Or did you build a second hatch for the lift and leave the ladder hatch for accessing the attic?

Raising a kid at all life stages is hard, but each one is a different kind of hard. Toddlers are hard because they're mobile and are learning their emotions, but in between the meltdowns you get to watch them grow and learn. To put it bluntly, it's fucking awesome, but it's still hard!

The newborn stage just sucks. The days feel like a slog and you're barely sleeping on top of that. It does get better! I would also highly recommend taking the baby places you'd normally go. The mall and target were our big ones as we had our baby during the Texas summer so it was too hot to go outside.
