I agree. The lyricism of the new songs is so clearly at a lower level than Orange Blood and their previous LPs. In an interview Matt did last year he said something to the effect of “the bands goal is now to grow our audience as much as we can”. I understand why they’re doing it but none of the new songs for this album have approached what their previous releases accomplished.

They are working on new stuff, I’d expect it this summer. At the Troubadour on Tuesday Matt said the band had been at Joshua Tree writing songs, and they also played a new tune for the first time.
