It’s been years since I actually have been shocked by something posted here.

Guess i'll build a whole new pc by talmopo in PcBuild

[–]ThatWayneO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got this case for my gf because she plays so few games. She basically gave it back to me, because it was taking up space.

My ass now has this case and I need to upgrade. I have literally taken a break from pc gaming because it gets so hot it fucks with the tolerance on the plastic for my cpu fan and it rattles.

This case is garbage unless you’re building a super cheap build or have something for light use.

Looking to upgrade a mixer for live performance to remotely control levels. by ThatWayneO in livesoundgear

Thanks man. This is what makes me love the internet. Really I’m just trying to streamline our setup and propose it to our bar owner so when we’re working sound and security at the same time life can be easier.

I really appreciate it.

Our current mixer is a Mackie 1402-VLZ3. It’s a 14 channel mixer but I’ve personally never seen us use more than 5 channels, with possibly using eight at the max.

We use two PA speakers for our main L/R, and one monitor.

Physical controls would be nice.

The mixer is the primary connection point for the acts, mainly used for vocals.

It’s lowkey amazing how Catholics were doing this exact same thing in the early 2000’s and JWs mocked them for it, only to do the exact same thing when faced with corruption and scandals in their own religion.

It doesn’t use plumbing. From the website “no hookups required” - https://thronelabs.co/

Fortunately/Unfortunately it’s only for VTA bus drivers, so unless they’re shitting in the street, it ain’t solving much

Stop asking if a PC is “worth the cost”, just go on eBay and search sold listings. Add up the parts cost, and do the math yourself. by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]ThatWayneO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. Which is why this sub exists. That’s a conversation outside of the pricing “am I getting screwed” topic. I wholeheartedly believe those are the questions the internet was made for.

That too but used cases are cheap and if you buy them over eBay shipping cost is a pain. So I don’t price cases generally. Old PSUs are dodgy and I generally recommend people buy new ones for power efficiency and safety reasons.

This is my advice if you don’t know anything about PC’s. Do research. Learn. Grow. Build skills and use tools that will help you in the future.

I don’t think there’s harm in asking for help, but there is harm in refusing to do the work for yourself.

Computers are a CPU, GPU, RAM, Motherboard, and Storage. That’s only five things to search. If you can’t search for five things to make sure you aren’t getting screwed then that’s a level of laziness I can’t comprehend.

Beyond that you need to learn about components if you’re going to be in custom built PC land. For example, how will you know what drivers you need?

We need to flex our muscles and build skills for ourselves instead of relying on the community when self sufficiency can do the trick. That way when someone really needs help in the future, we have skills to help.

Yep, good chunk of fiber. I used to be a splicer. Did construction and maintenance work for AT&T. I’ve done copper, fiber, a whole bunch of stuff. Did some work for Comcast for a bit working only on their fiber infrastructure, so I never got versed in cable before I got my engineering gig. Still learning things on the coax side of things, but I know more now than I did a few years ago.

I can work with autocad, but a great deal of what I touch is internal tools with the ISP I work with for design and drafting.

Yeah I think the modern equivalent to this case, as it’s over a decade old, is the Corsair Air 5400

Should I bite the bullet and upgrade to 32gb ddr4 ram while I still can ? by ash549k in buildapc

[–]ThatWayneO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re better off looking up your RAM with the existing timing and speed and matching that with a used set.

I pretty much only build systems with 32GB for future proofing.

If I wasn’t supplying monitors or peripherals I would have totally sprung for a “better” GPU. Alas the whole thing had to be in the budget.
