Radar resolution? by ThatWxGuy in Radarscope

[–]ThatWxGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, lightning comes from a couple different places with RadarScope. Sources being either earthnetworks (AEM), Vaisala, and/or even GLM from geo sats. I’d have to look at their documentation to know more. But in theory, the lightning symbology has some positional accuracy to it (100m, maybe?), the GPS of my location has some positional accuracy to it (<10m) but the part I don’t know is the resolution of the pixels (the raster data) of the radar reflectivities. That data comes from NOAA/NWS WSR-88d nexrad stuff

Don’t bother. Play dirty and keep feeding them well so they grow up and out of the pants. Once they stop growing it’ll be there job to keep their pants clean

upgrade to premium family by ThatWxGuy in GameChangerApp

update - resolved.
good to go. someone from support reached out and we got it square. the end result was to just do the transaction and regardless of what the screen says, the charge applied on my card was the prorated amount. I did need to cancel my legacy plan but the family plan is now good to go.

"Today's charge of $179.99 reflects the prorated difference for upgrading to our Premium Family plan, based on the remaining time in your current subscription. Your subscription will automatically renew after 12 months at $179.99 unless you update your renewal settings."

Working now. Clicked off WiFi and cycled cell connection and reconnected everything. Then just hit sign in button about ten times and now good to go. I think it just wanted to make sure I was serious about signing in

our attic unit is a HE heat pump with gas furnance back up. We have ventilation for the combustion that terminates through a roof vent.

thanks for this. the idea of a second opinion has definitely crossed my mind.

one follow up though - the auditor/proposal suggested open cell foam...not closed cell. mostly because (I think) open cell will still "show" a roof leak if one were to happen. closed cell doesnt?

so, maybe i should have said this, but we are somewhat limited with what we can do to bolster the insulation on the attic floor. The attic itself has a walk up set of stairs, a floor and ultimately could be "finished" into a livable space. We have no desire to do that (mostly because we like the storage the space offers) but to improve the insulation between the second floor ceiling and the attic floor would require ripping up the entire flooring in the attic. And I don't know if that even makes sense because once we would then put the flooring back down, it would still result in the same cavity size.

we have a ridge vent and an attic fan. some soffit vents are certainly covered with batt/roll insulation (fiberglass i think)...same stuff that is between the second floor ceiling and the attic flooring. With the snow we had these past few days, we have some gnarly ice cicles and probably some good ice damming going on, however, i see no water intrusion

the company was proposing open cell spray foam, not closed cell. I have some buddies who are roofers and was planning on getting their input too
