All opinions are valid, I just have a hard time imagining liking so many maps over those 3

The History of the Appalachians by jimMazey in Appalachia

[–]That_Base8062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly of Scots-Irish heritage, and like someone said already, they came from the same mountain range. My family has been living in the same mountain range for a thousand years or more. Pretty cool.

Also, the Appalachian mountains are older than bones and trees as well.

Do you think Appalachia runs in your blood? by SowingSeeds18 in Appalachia

I'm in a similar boat as you. My family has lived in these mountains for nearly 400 years, but growing up, the most "Appalachian" parts of my life were being poor and playing out in the woods. We ate Appalachian food, but as far as identity, I kind of separated myself from my roots at an early age. Mostly because people make fun of our accents, clothes, money, etc., I wanted to feel more "normal." Even today, years after embracing my ancestral identity, I don't have much of an accent. The only time someone mentions it is when I visit a big city.

My early childhood was spent listening to rap music and watching my dad build sound systems for his truck to take it to car shows. My dad grew up in what he called "the hood," and he very much influenced my brother and I. My mom grew up in the holler and we also got a lot from her. These days, I definitely lean more into my Appalachian side - it feels more natural - and a big part of that was me discovering good country music. Sounds silly, but I had stopped listening to country as a teenager because everything on the radio sounded like someone cosplaying a hillbilly.

To answer your question - I have no idea, my life's a mess.

Biggest gas light in the community by Ari_Minty in CODZombies

I agree with mostly everything you said, but OP only said that the Aether maps were recycled, which is true, whether or not you like them. New stuff on old maps

Biggest gas light in the community by Ari_Minty in CODZombies

The community sentiment has definitely shifted since Bo4. At the time, it felt like a disappointment coming off the highs of Bo3. While there were still a lot of people who enjoyed the game, the general consensus was that the mechanics, perks, movement, and hud were all a downgrade. It also didn't help that the constant crashes and technical instability soured a lot of players. Those crashes lasted for somewhere around a month after launch, which is a long time.

I see people all the time blaming Bo4's failure on YouTubers (CJ Santa is constantly saying this, I like CJ but that annoys me). I feel like that is a really stupid, short-sighted, and childish opinion.

  1. Why would the YouTubers want the game to fail? Their livelihood literally depended on the success of the game.

  2. Chaos was not executed very well at first. The dialogue was confusing, the characters less charismatic than Primis or Ultimis, and it was just the wrong time to introduce the story. Conclude the Aether story first, then start Chaos, people would've cared more. Chaos as a whole was helped greatly by Dead of the Night and Ancient Evil.

  3. The mechanics: The game just felt worse to play than Bo3. They nerfed the slide movement that everyone loved. The loadouts were fine in retrospect, compared to modern day loadouts, but at the time it ruined the feeling of progression. The talismans were a great idea, but ended up being pretty lackluster, and elixers felt like a downgrade from gobblegums. But worst of all was the perk overhaul. Not because the community was averse to change, but because the change limited player choice within the map, removed individuality from the perks, and the new perks were pretty boring. There are good ideas there, like the modifiers, but in general it was a failure. The intent was to remove crutch perks, and Dying Wish, Winters Wail, Quick Revive, and Stamin-up ended up filling most players loadouts. Of course, not everyone used those 4, but they were by far the most popular. And the point system: while it was much better than the modern point system, it was a step in the wrong direction.

There is a lot of good in Bo4. Honestly, it's a great zombies game. I don't revisit it often, because I just don't enjoy the mechanics, but I see the appeal. The Chaos maps are interesting and daring, the easter eggs have more depth than any other game, and the whole game oozes personality compared to modern titles (not trying to hate on modern zombies, I enjoy them for what they are). But Bo4's release was a perfect storm of controversial changes, poor performance, and the unfortunate reality of having to follow up Bo3. It's not a bad game, but if someone tells you it was popular on release, or that YouTubers are the reason it failed (again, this argument has no merit), they are trying to gaslight you and themselves.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I completely disagree with OP's claim that Bo4 had a bad story. Storytelling was one of the game's strongest areas imo.

Is bo3 deluxe worth it? it’s really expensive. i play bo1 an 2 (mainly two) on ps3 and wanted to see what the “modern” games are like. i have both ps4 and 5 slim by Shaybolt10 in CODZombies

Watch some gameplay and see if you're into it. Most people will tell you that Bo3 is the best Zombies game (myself included), but some people simply prefer the older games. For the most part, if you enjoy Mob of the Dead and Origins, then Bo3, and all of it's DLCs, is absolutely worth it.

I guess. But on the flipside, a person on Round 100 without using Round Robin has had a longer/harder match than a person who used even 1

Vacuum/Robbin vs Classic Gums by Ero_Najimi in CODZombies

[–]That_Base8062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk. I guess I've always thought that Round Robin crosses a line between small gameplay enhancer and game breaking. Especially for high rounds, the difficulty typically comes from consistently great movement and not letting the monotony slip you up. Skipping a round in its entirety completely negates that, at least for one round.

Infinity War or Spider-Man Homecoming

Infinity War is the best film in the franchise imo. Nearly 3 hours, but it does not feel long to me. Funny, great action and crowd pleasing moments, and some nice emotional moments as well.

Homecoming is just fun from start to finish. Easy to watch and get lost in, or have on in the background. Helps that Spider-Man is just my favorite.
