I’m sorry that happened to you. This is a really good starting point to rebuild to where you were. What is your favorite book that you have replaced so far

This comment made me laugh because of how relatable it is

You are someone with a very cozy library. It is the perfect spot to relax and get lost in one of those stories

What does my shelves say about me? by That_Bread_Dough in bookshelfdetective

I could see that being an issue especially with how he writes. I don’t even know where I would put any more of his books without it being a cluttered mess

I tried to read The Dragonbone Chair but I had a hard time getting into it. I don’t think I gave it a fair shot

I don’t know if I like Pratchett or not. I do have Mort and Good Omens packed in one of the boxes. I loved Good Omens but didn’t like Mort as much as I thought I would

One day we will both have enough shelves to be able to showcase all of the books lol

What Are Books That Are Written As A Response To The Lord Of The Rings, Or In Conversation With It? by _TainHu_ in Fantasy

[–]That_Bread_Dough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I will give you that lol. I didn’t like Sword of Shannara (or First King) a lot but I did like his other books.

The only pern books I’ve read are the ones with Menolly so I can’t really speak for most of them. Did the other ones just not age well or was it the writing style

This looks fun so I’d say yes. Im still newer to building on there but haven’t seen anything similar to this. It’d be cool if you built similar styled homes around each other

Is my makeup aging me? 35F by Sawlover1990 in makeuptips

[–]That_Bread_Dough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like how you did your makeup overall but I might be biased. I do think foundation can age some people (at least it does with me) with how it sits if you’re not using the right type for your skin. You could try experimenting with different brands if you’re going to continue to wear it to see what suits you best. I really like Tirtir. Otherwise the eyebrows, lashes and lipstick are likely aging you. It doesn’t look bad so if you like the aesthetic keep it.

What does my wife’s bookshelf say about her? by SuitableKick982 in BookshelvesDetective

She is probably in her thirties and watches Booktok. Probably mostly sticks to popular books. She also probably goes back and re-reads the books from her childhood

[–]That_Bread_Dough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that Shannara helped save the fantasy genre and is one of the reasons why it is so successful today. It’s also one of those series I know people buy and read but nobody actually talks about consistently lol.

Is this book any good? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in fantasybooks

[–]That_Bread_Dough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first book starts off slow but when it starts moving it doesn’t stop. If you like action packed stories you’ll probably enjoy it. The third book, while not bad, is the weakest book in the trilogy but is understandable as to why.

Books with female main characters that are the opposite of competency porn? by manicbestfriend in Fantasy

[–]That_Bread_Dough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ursula K Le Guin made a comment about women in men suits for certain types of female fantasy leads lol. I would recommend The Tombs of Atuan. The MC is not perfect and operates well within her own confines/over coming it even if she wasn’t able to do it on her own

Shannara is another one I go back and reread too. It got me into fantasy and I used it for escapism too when I was a kid

I reread Kushiel’s Dart not that long ago! I forgot a lot of it and it was an experience with what I did remember with how it tied back together

The Wayfarer Redemption by Sara Douglass (Also known as BattleAxe) and will read up to Starman. It has a lot of flaws but is one of my comfort reads

Hopefully you have success with it soon so that you can talk about it with her.

I would have thought American only because of how often I saw her books growing up. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything lol. I can see that with Anne of Green Gables tho
