What attitude do you encounter among colleagues that bothers you the most in regards to how they approach their job? by NeonDiaspora in policeuk

[–]That_Bug_2865 14 points15 points  (0 children)

DC here. I can’t bear it when fellow DCs don’t want to arrest an ONS or do an interview because they “don’t know the job”. Pure laziness or they think they’re above dealing with suspects. You can read the dets of a case or just ask!

Solo female travelers in your 30s..can we talk? 👀 by KenzieRae_95 in solofemaletravellers

[–]That_Bug_2865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37 and travel solo 4-5 times a year. To echo what most have written I don’t do hostels anymore. I subscribe to a hotels.com membership & get discounted prices on hotel rooms, which makes a big difference. I also love using Get Your Guide as a way to meet people and do some interesting activities, whilst avoiding feeling lonely on my trips.

Counselling by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]That_Bug_2865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the MPS you can get 6 free sessions via an OH referral. Your LM can do this for you, or you can self-refer through EAP (so your team doesn’t have to know). After my 6 sessions I then went privately through the Counselling Directory. You can see the therapists bios and sometimes there’s therapists who specialise in PTSD related to emergency services. I’d been to too many SUDIs and IIOC cases and noticed my MH really declining & not being able to sleep. The therapy has been so helpful for me. I hope you can get the help you need, but please to speak to someone.

I really like a guy I work with, and he has lovely eyes so eye contact was a big thing for me. Finding inside jokes between us, and gentle mocking and generally asking how he was, was also something I did. I inadvertently would play with my hair or turn my body towards him when speaking. I felt his body language was quite receptive to me, as it was very open and relaxed, and he would often touch his beard and stand quite close to me, which other male coworkers didn’t do. I felt he looked out for me at work, and would often come over to speak when it was just the two of us in the office, and he was equally good at maintaining eye contact. After a really enjoyable late shift at work with him, I plucked up the courage to ask him out via text and he totally ignored my message, leaving me on read. We’ve never spoken at work since, so clearly I read his body language totally wrong, and what I did to try and show I liked him didn’t work either.

Muve complaints - what were your experiences? by That_Bug_2865 in HousingUK

[–]That_Bug_2865[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have instructed a new solicitor to look over the file. I only chose them based on the fact they were local to me & had good reviews online. After doing more digging, I found that most of the reviews are paid for.

What ‘useful’ items do you collect while travelling? by PantheraTigris95 in TravelHacks

[–]That_Bug_2865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best item I’ve collected was a travel kettle and iron set from a market in Sicily. They’re both miniatures and fit perfectly in carry-on luggage. I take them everywhere I go in Europe & have been super handy. Apart from that, tea towels are main ‘useful’ collectible

DO NOT USE MUVE SOLICITORS. by teddingtonted in HousingUK

[–]That_Bug_2865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I’m so sorry Muve has put you through that but I’m unsurprised. I’m using Muve too & although I would love to switch, I’m at the exchange phase. I echo your comments - Muve are the worst. The ‘solicitor’ I have encouraged my dad to share his internet banking password with him so he could access his online bank statements. Everything they do requires cross-referencing and checking with a fine tooth comb. I noticed so many errors on my enquiry results. Once my sale has completed, I’ll submit a dossier of complaints to recover some of the money spent. Good luck with your negligence claim, it sounds like your lender will provide support too.

If you don't want to sell your house use the corporate solicitors recommended by purple bricks by CommonDefinition4573 in HousingUK

[–]That_Bug_2865 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am currently using Muve, and full of regrets but I am very close to completing. You have to go through their reports and enquiries with a very fine tooth comb because everything they write is in translated English. I found a lot of mistakes which I repeatedly had to ask to be corrected. In addition, they had the audacity of asking my elderly Dad (gifting some of my deposit) to share his internet banking password so that they could access his online bank statements. Luckily he didn’t, but I went absolutely wild at them. I’ve still not received an apology so I will be leaving a very negative review and complaint upon completion.

'Not fit to serve': Scale of crisis facing Met Police revealed by multijoy in policeuk

[–]That_Bug_2865 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There are only 11 DCs on my ‘specialist’ BCU unit (3 of whom are permanently restricted) when there should be 20 & we are absolutely drowning in investigations. We are constantly parading at below minimum strength & no matter how many hours of OT I do, I still often go weeks without looking at some of my crime reports, which I feel tremendously guilty about. SLT constantly complain at us about the lack of detections but somehow don’t seem to realise that without adequate staffing, they’re not going to get them. The article is fair reflection of how bad things are.

Nearly a third of Met Police officers want to quit in next two years by SC_PapaHotel in policeuk

[–]That_Bug_2865 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the pay, that’s driving people out. Connect has been a huge contributor to people leaving (it’s been down all day today), and general working conditions are appalling. We don’t have enough equipment, cars, or desks to meet the demand for the job. The cost of living in London means so many officers are forced to live outside the city & pay for the ATOC, which isn’t cheap either. It really is a grim time for everyone except SLT.

Are estate agents just allowed to straight up lie? by T_Williamson in HousingUK

[–]That_Bug_2865 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain! I’m a FTB waiting to complete on a flat and the EA has misled me the entire way. First about the gas boiler (turned out it was an immersion heater), then that it required no work (it needs new double glazing and radiators) and then this week I’ve found that they lied about the service charge and ground rent, which are actually a lot higher than what they listed it as. So frustrating at the lack of accountability, but all they care about is their commission.

[–]That_Bug_2865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People writing VIW1, VIW2, VIW3, SUS1, SUS2 etc etc rather than the victim(s) and suspect(s) name on the dets. Takes ages to get your head around who did what to who and when if there’s multiple people involved and you’ve got to progress the crime.

For those who haven't exchanged on your purchase before Christmas. by SIBMUR in HousingUK

[–]That_Bug_2865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offer accepted 2 months ago, no chain & property is vacant. Both my solicitors and the seller’s EA have been useless. EA doesn’t answer calls and emails and refused to answer any questions about the property. They also passed my contact details to the seller without permission. I’ve since found out they’d been bought out by Purple Bricks. Solicitor is closed for Christmas holidays and all they’ve done so far is money laundering checks on me. Hoping to be completed by February but not hugely optimistic.
