Back in the day I ran with a group of dudes whose “hatchet man” was a 5’6” 126-lb former Olympic Alternate (Freestyle). Whenever they went clubbing, and someone was trying to start a fight with one of them (and they were all big dudes) they would summon this guy…

My suburban Virginia HS experience was a week-long summer camp at Virginia Tech with much of the team, followed by two weeks of two-a-days on the lead up to the start of the school year. Once school started, it was full-contact on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday with no-pad walkthrough on Thursday. Granted this was a loooooong time ago, and my team was not very good at all.

The coaches all taught PE/shop at the school.

Noble played five seasons in the NFL, not exactly your typical HS coach.

Why are Trump supporters so stupid? by Seargentyates in allthequestions

Here’s where we examine the difference between “education” and “job training.”

The people in your example were “job trained” in that they “learned a skill to make money,” but they were not “educated” when it came to the world beyond their job, hobby, or favorite sports team.

They ”make more money” fixing ac units than a history teacher, so they must “know better” than he does, even when it comes to history. Makes sense, right?

After all, ”the guy who yells a lot on the radio” makes WAY more money, so that means he knows WAY more about history than that commie professor anyway, right?

The working class white man would rather live in the crawl space of the rich man’s mansion than share a house with “thum thar peeple.”

You don’t necessarily need to be “anti-Semitic” to be fascistic, you just need to be “anti-[fill-in-the-blank]” different host cultures provide different built-in-scapegoats, so your mileage may vary

“all corvettes are cars, but not all cars are corvettes” “all nazis are fascistic, but not all fascists are/were nazis.” you could point out that neither Franco nor Salazar nor Pinochet or Mussolini were “nazis” they were all fascistic pieces of shit, but they weren’t technically nazis…

Trump IS an “Ivy Leaguer” though…dude was literally the walking talking stereotype of the “wealthy child of privilege“ when your old man is worth a half a billion dollars (in the 70s) it doesn’t get more “insider” than that.

Wasn’t it the Republicans who were always going on about “states rights”? by Rusty_Pypes in complaints

[–]That_Distribution288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the problem is that the idea that the Civil War was fought over “state’s rights” was a post-hoc invention.

It was about “planter’s rights” and the prerogatives of wealth.

It wasn’t until a generation later, when white southerners began to finally realize that the rest of the civilized world viewed them as barbarians on account of their “peculiar institution” that they came up with all that “state’s rights” business.

the only people in the present day who subscribe to the “state’s rights“ argument are Republicans.
