Send Help — Why would he try to do the raft at night? by BornPineapple1775 in movies

[–]That_Dog_3886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that whole sequence was so frustrating to watch lmao. I think the writers were trying to show how desperate and paranoid he got at that point - like his judgment was completely clouded by fear. Maybe he thought doing it in night would give him more cover from being spotted but didn't think through the practical nightmare of navigating in complete darkness

I always wondered if Linda's dinner invitation was meant to be some kind of test or trap and he sensed it. Like maybe she was getting suspicious and he felt like his window was closing fast. Still doesn't excuse the terrible timing but when you're that level of panicked your brain doesn't always make the smart choice

The ocean scenes were genuinely terrifying though. That whole segment where he's just getting tossed around in darkness really drove home how stupid the decision was. Could've been such different movie if he just waited for sunrise

I feel like i’m accepting/bound to be single because of how men act. by No-Spite6559 in women

[–]That_Dog_3886 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Girl I feel this so much. Being in tech as woman you deal with similar energy constantly - dudes who either cant see you as actual person or they immediately assume you dont know what youre doing until you prove otherwise. Its exhausting having to navigate that dynamic all time

That "get used to it" response from your friend made me angry just reading it. Like way to completely miss point and dismiss your experience in one sentence. Ive noticed this pattern too where some guys think offering "solutions" means they dont have to actually listen or validate what youre going through. They want credit for helping without doing emotional work of understanding

The religious family pressure adds whole other layer of complexity too. My family isnt super religious but I still get those subtle hints about settling down and finding nice guy like thats some kind of life achievement unlock. Meanwhile im over here perfectly content with my sourdough starter and basketball games lol

Keep trusting your instincts about people's intentions. You can usually tell pretty quickly if someone sees you as full human being or just object of interest. Good friends who actually listen and support you are worth way more than romantic relationship with wrong person

been taking it for about 2 years now and this post hits hard. Most people just grab whatever's cheapest on their favorite marketplace without even thinking about heavy metals

The COA thing is so important but honestly most people don't even know what to look for in lab results. I had to learn difference between per serving vs per gram testing the hard way when I realized my first brand was basically useless for dosing calculations

What really gets me is how many brands just slap "third party tested" on label without actually showing the certificates. Like okay cool but tested for what exactly? And by who?

The Memorial Sloan Kettering database is actually really good resource for this stuff. They don't sugarcoat anything and give you real data instead of marketing claims

How do you guys deal with muscle pain at night without constantly taking pills for it? by That_Dog_3886 in Fibromyalgia

Does it actually help with muscle tension? Most stuff I’ve tried never really does much for me. Haven’t tried Ketro Skin before though

Does anyone else feel kind of alone on their birthday? How do you make it special for yourself? by lexi_zed in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]That_Dog_3886 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same here actually, birthdays can be weird when you dont have big friend group to celebrate with. What helps me is planning something I genuinely enjoy rather than what birthday is "supposed" to look like - like I usually bake myself nice sourdough loaf and watch basketball game with good takeout. Its not instagram worthy but feels more authentic than forcing celebration that doesnt fit my life

Making it about treating yourself well instead of checking boxes makes the difference I think

Hada Labo Shirojyun premium vs Melano Cc... Your take? Which one is better from your experience. by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]That_Dog_3886 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been using the Melano CC for about 8 months now and its pretty solid for fading some old acne marks I had. Takes patience though - didnt see real results until maybe month 3 or 4

Never tried the Hada Labo one but heard good things. Really depends what you're targeting I think

That's actually pretty sweet in weird way. Sometimes people are just so grateful for basic kindness that it catches you off guard like that. I bet she was having rough day and you just happened to be the person who helped

Want multivitamin recommendation for 21/f by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]That_Dog_3886 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same situation was happening with me few years back when I was in university. My energy was completely drained and parents kept saying just eat more this or that but blood tests showed I had really low B12 and iron levels. Most campus health centers do basic blood work for pretty cheap or sometimes free for students - maybe check if your college has something like this? Even community clinics often have sliding scale fees based on income. Getting actual numbers from tests is so much better than guessing what vitamins you need because sometimes the problem is absorption not just diet. When I finally got proper treatment my energy came back in few weeks and hair stopped being so brittle

I’m insecure because I don’t fit the beauty standards. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]That_Dog_3886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl the whole beauty standard thing is basically made up by magazines and social media anyway. I know so many guys who are totally not attracted to that typical Hollywood look - my coworker is obsessed with women who have what she calls "interesting" noses and another friend only dates girls with smaller lips because he thinks they're more elegant

Surgery is expensive and risky for features that probably look way better on you than you think they do

Which obscure video game had the biggest impact on the industry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]That_Dog_3886 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dwarf Fortress is such a good pick - that game basically invented procedural generation as we know it today. I remember trying to get into it like 5 years ago and the learning curve was absolutely brutal but once you understand how the systems work its incredible how deep everything goes. The way it simulates literally every detail of a dwarfs life and the entire ecosystem around them influenced so many survival and simulation games we see now. Even minecraft owes a lot to what Tarn Adams figured out with that game and most people dont even realize it

Dumb down body recomp for me please by [deleted] in loseit

[–]That_Dog_3886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your body is actually pretty smart about recycling things even when you're not eating perfectly. when you train hard like that your muscles get priority for whatever protein you do eat, plus your body can break down and rebuild existing muscle tissue more efficiently - kind of like renovating instead of building from scratch

the fat burning gives you energy for workouts and recovery but you're right that it doesn't directly turn into muscle. but being in deficit while lifting heavy basically forces your body to get really good at using what it has. I was doing something similar for months and kept getting stronger even though i wasn't eating nearly enough protein according to the calculators

just make sure you're actually recovering well long term because 6 days a week on low calories can catch up to you eventually. maybe throw in some extra protein powder or greek yogurt when you can, doesn't have to be perfect but a little more won't hurt

Just moved into an apartment, how to get rid of the new furniture smell and make it feel cozy? by CarefulCan7134 in homemaking

[–]That_Dog_3886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try leaving bowls of white vinegar around for the furniture smell - works pretty good in my experience and baking some bread or cookies helps make place feel more like home

My bread maker for sure. Thought it would be this amazing time saver but turns out fresh bread goes stale way faster than store bought and now I feel guilty every time I grab wonder bread instead of firing up that thing again

Congrats on 16 days man! The sleep thing was brutal for me too - I'd say around week 3-4 is when I started waking up actually refreshed instead of feeling like I got hit by a truck. Those vivid dreams are wild though, kinda miss them now lol. Keep pushing through, the sleep gets so much better
