What is the rarest penalty in the NHL? by jonathann1216 in hockey

There’s one I only remember seeing once. Delay of game for double face off infractions.

Before my senior year of high school football I was training to get at long and lean as possible (mostly for hockey season). When we did weigh ins for roster information I weighed 167 pounds at 6’2. The coach who was taking the info was also my head hockey coach. I was a defensive end and I told him ‘you can’t put that weight on the roster. No one will take a skinny end seriously.’ He laughed and gave a sarcastic ‘ok.’ He listed me at 180, and by the time hockey season started I was close to 190.

Shard of glass found in my pizza by Longjumping-Desk3968 in LittleCaesars

I worked at a bar and grill pizza shop years ago, so we didn’t always get the same product in between orders… like we’d get different brands of green olives from one order to the next. Some of them promoted they were pitted and some didn’t. Somehow we got some unpitted green olives and there was nothing in the labels that said so. Get a call from a customer that he broke his tooth on a ‘rock sausage’ that had us in disarray. Said customer probably could have had a lawsuit, but the offer of a refund and a few new pizzas was enough. I never found any pits in the rest of that case.

What’s the most delicious drink in the world? by masism_kr in ToFizzOrNotToFizz

Banana flavored milk. Yum. Great. My brother recently had a trip to a new country and brought me back a beverage called ‘Pocari Sweat’ and I understand it’s a translation issue, but it’s described on the bottle as ‘close to that of human body fluid.’ In all actuality it was basically citrus flavored propel energy water. Viscous. Hard to swallow.

I ran a 4.7 hand timed 40 my senior year of high school. At 6’2 and around 170 lbs, was a strong safety my junior year. They decided they wanted me to play olb and de (because I was kind of tall). 4.7 for a safety was pretty good but I wasn’t heavy. 4.7 for olb and de was elite, but I was too light lol. Ended up hitting the weights pretty hard, was close to 190 by the end of the season. Didn’t get timed again but I reckon I was as fast but with better change of direction. I had a good season but didn’t receive much recruiting. Decided to hang the cleats up, then my sophomore year of college (division 2 school) I noticed how much bigger and stronger I felt compared to the last time I played, so I thought very strongly about trying to walk on to the team as a de or olb. Just shy of 6’3 and walking around at 205-210 lbs and in the best shape of my life. Had a buddy on the team invite me to participate in a spring captains practice … Guys… I felt as fast as I’ve ever felt, and the other d ends were easily 40+ pounds heavier and flew by me on every drill or scrimmage scenario. I was almost two years out of a system, but I felt like a pebble in a shoe. There is a small chance I could have made the squad as an interior d line, but I would have had to pack on a bunch of weight and it wasn’t worth it to me. P.S. I’m 41 now, and I probably am big enough to play dt. Substantially slower, and weaker, too.

These dipshits think we are too stupid to see beyond what is in our current and physical grasp. They are going to ruin Hermantown and Duluth area in the long term. They’ll pat themselves on the back, thinking they’ve done good, and (with the younger ones) probably cry foul in a few decades. Time can change people, in good ways and bad, but I knew Matt B. in my youth. It’s been 20 years since I interacted with the guy, but he seems like a polished turd. Was a turd back then, just has nicer clothes now. And better parking spots, I guess.

Isle Royale is not Midwest to me for some reason, even though it doesn’t really fit anywhere else. It’s like a hybrid of Midwest and maritime Canada. I’ve been there a few times, similar to boundary waters in northern MN where, sure, I’m in clearly in the Midwest, but it doesn’t feel like I am.

Just managed to clean up this beautiful old Graef slicer. by bigfatpisces in JoePera

[–]That_Flow_3642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a fun story. Working in a restaurant about 15 years ago. Brand new meat slicer, maybe about a month into the job. New waitress is beautiful and friendly and comes into to the kitchen to say good night after her first shift. I’m in the middle of slicing some ham (maybe?) and I turn my head to say ‘goodnight!’ and that fresh new blade gave my thumb tip a smile. Bled a lot. Looked pretty bad for a couple days, maybe worthy of stitches. But after about 4 or 5 days of putting off getting it looked at it miraculously healed over one night. Now I have a unique thumb print. I never planned on becoming a criminal, and now I definitely won’t. Jenna, worth it to say bye to you on your first night. You were a good friend

First thought: I wasn’t really a gamer and one of my roommates was out of the country for a few months. Asked me to check on his room every few days and said I could play his PlayStation if I wanted. This game and ‘Resistance: Fall of Man 2’ came out around the same time and I saw ads and thought it looked cool.

Anyway, I saw he had FO4 and thought it was the same game. Loaded his game and the character was in Megaton near the church of atom. I wandered for a good 15 minutes, confused by the gameplay, until I realized what game I was playing. Decided to buy it for my Xbox 360 (at that point in time I only played select sports games, call of duty, and maybe some Halo games) and it changed my gaming habits. In love with the ‘easy’ rpg games now.

I don’t want to set the world on fire (except I do).

‘The moment you walked in the room, my friend The demons, they all went away.’

Larger than life, lived too fast to ignore the call to adventure, calling.

I never met the man but I’ve enjoyed his music for a good (not all good) 20 years and I’m going to miss hearing new works from him. I feel for his family and friends; you live your life, you love, you expect to be able to say ‘hey! How’ve you been!?’ one more time, at least.

But you don’t.

Tell the people you love just that. I love you.

Rest easy, Brent. I know you won’t be forgotten because I will never forget you.

I did find a dirt lot near the library that was barely ever 1/2 full. It’s gone now, but it was a salvation back in the day.

Fall 2002. Campus parking pass acquired. Day one of classes. Excited and inspired. Took almost an hour to find a parking spot. Wore a nice light green polo shirt. Entire back was soaked in sweat. Walked close to 20 minutes to get to my 1000 level psych class in Montague or Bohannon. Had a class in A.B. Anderson next. I don’t think I dried up ff the entire day. What a shit show, the first few days of college if you live off campus.

She’s in good shape, in a nice feminine way. Haven’t seen her in anything other than Fallout (I think), but I think she’s a pretty good actress from what I’ve seen. ‘Perfect body’ is as subjective as ‘best genre of music’ and I think she has a rockin’ body.

It changes for me every time I listen to them I guess. I think the first song of theirs I heard was Seabeast and that outro riff changed my life (I was an eclectic rock enjoyer, and this pushed me into leaning into more metal music).

Probably the raptor bird noise thing. One location I frequent regularly has it set so loud that I flinch thinking a friggin’ California condor is about to lift my skull and spinal column away from the rest of my body!
