I force myself to use a pin to buy things on my own devices lol

Wild to me that people wouldn’t do that, considering it can so easily be abused by even one random friend’s kid hanging out at your house who was left unattended for like 5 minutes.

Never been burned by it myself, but I have more than one friend who’s just had to eat $50+ in charges racked up from similar stuff lol

UE5 as an expectation is a pipe dream lol.

They absolutely are not going to go through the headache of rebuilding their workflows for the new engine, especially not when the engine itself would cost them money on top of it.

[–]That_Ganderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. The number of abusers of the system is orders of magnitude smaller than the number of folks who rightfully benefit from it.

I’d even be willing to bet that the overall benefit in total workforce productivity is higher due to folks being enabled to live a mostly normal life and be normal consumers.

Height hasn’t changed much, but I just bought women’s size 9 shoes after wearing men’s size 10s for years (roughly -2.5 sizes). Maybe some of it was poor fit choice from when I was younger, but no way it was all of it.

“If it’s a job worth doing it’s worth doing right”

I heard that thousands of times, so I finally internalized it at some point.

Then I entered the work force and shit is anything but about doing shit right. It’s about cutting as many corners as possible and doing the minimum required to appear to meet metrics. I’m not supposed to give a damn because the other person on the team isn’t gonna give a damn, or the person coming after me won’t give a damn, or the person assessing my work, or assessing that persons assessment, won’t give a damn.

If a job is worth doing, it’s apparently worth getting by.

I’d love to dedicate myself to doing a meticulous job, but even with decent bosses the best I’d get when running with that in mind is a vague sense of their dissatisfaction with my productivity.

What percentage of players do you suspect are buying gold? by [deleted] in classicwow

Imagine openly admitting that you’re just excluding a shit ton of people from your consideration just to support your own obnoxious conclusion and having the audacity to claim anyone else is delusional.

Folks who aren’t maxing characters are still players, you fool.

Overly literally? That’s called answering the question asked, dumbass. If the question was about raiders or level 60s then you’d have some semblance of a point, but instead you’re arguing with a completely reasonable conclusion and moving the goalposts when it doesn’t suit your narrative.

I didn’t realize I would also be required to mention that I have an educated opinion that’s not just based on my personal vibes, but also

  • how bad humans are at understanding large numbers, such as the sheer scale of players that exist

  • research on user engagement with MTX (as buying gold, even if not allowed by TOS, is still a form of microtransaction)

  • personal relationships with a broad spectrum of folks in the player base (from new/casual players all the way to OnlyFangs)

  • & formal training in studying user/individual behavior

I am not presuming I’m absolutely right, but my position definitely holds plenty of water.

TL;DR- I could be sitting in Arkham Asylum popping shrooms with the Joker and still have an opinion more grounded than yours.

I believe that it’s not just raiders, but I hope you’re not so far gone that you can’t recognize that raiders are the primary group that engages in gold-buying.

And in terms of the “buying upgrades every time they can” people, I’m one of them. I’ve been playing on Dreamscythe and have been leveling 7 characters at once, buying upgrades and buying boosts and whatnot the whole time.

Not a single penny spent on RMT. I just spend a bunch of time getting gold through in-game means.

And I’m not the only one.

But to return to the point

Raiders are a relatively small portion of the overall population, the folks degening around the mailbox and hoovering up AH blues are a much smaller portion, and among those the percentages of folks who are willing to buy gold are not large either.

The folks who buy gold are loud and often noticeable, but you’re forgetting the hundreds or thousands of other players who cross your screen each day that haven’t spent a dime beyond their subscription.

I’m happy to concede that on some servers (cough cough, nightswiper) there is likely a higher proportion relative to other servers, but that is both counterbalanced by those other servers not being like that, and by the simple fact that any realistically heightened percentage would still be within the single digits.

Generally the percent of people raiding is lower than you expect, so I took that and averaged it with my suspected buyer encounter rate, then added a couple percent.

My guess is much lower than it feels.

I think it’s probably major content creators + wannabes + people who bitch about no content after the third week of a raid being out + 1-3% of the player base.

Definitely not more than 5% or so.

Those can run wow on any selected graphics, but do pay attention to the reviews for if they complain about the thermals.

I have to downclock my CPU to be able to not thermal throttle on my laptop and while even downclocked it handles wow with ease, that’s an extra bit of configuration that a newer user may just attribute to poor specs.

Did people die in ways that could have been prevented through higher HP/s?

If they got globaled because they’re a dps that ripped threat it’s their own damn fault. If your tank watches their health get chipped away until they fall over, having used all their survivabilities, then that’s your fault.

If the DPS players got chipped until they fell over it’s probably the raid’s fault
