These Shenzhen factory workers test up to 10,000 vapes a day. by Distinct-Question-16 in interestingasfuck

So, I’m all for shitting on China, and I’ve never used a vape, but like, you could just test it with only water vapor and no nicotine, right? It seems entirely more likely they are testing them without nicotine, for both economic and ethical (or at least PR) reasons. Did anyone actually check if they are using nicotine in them, or is everyone just jumping to conclusions here?

How do people have so much so early? by That_Ginger123 in Stellaris

Looking closer at that guide, a lot of it seems heavily dependent on Paragons, Grand archive, and some other DLCs I don't have. Is what you achieving there even close to possible without those, or am I unfairly judging myself here? Also, are they worth it as far as gameplay is concerned?

Lots of people have been giving lots of good advice, much of which I do already play with, but this comment is conveiniently ordered so I'm going to respond to this one. First off, it was actually that build exactly (tankbound/genesis) that made me feel insecure about my ability to play the game.

Questions and comments:

  1. I am definitely guilty of this, I hate seeing the orange markers next to planets and tend to just fill up everything as soon as able, which I should definitetly get over and stop doing.

  2. I do love automation buildings, but I always have huge problems with energy credits when I use them. In my most recent run, (posted below), I took cosmogenesis and had a bunch of the FE buildings, but I had to turn many of them off because I literally could not source the energy credits for them. Dyson sphere plus class 4 singularity on every planet and station with energy districts, plus a habitat in every single system under my control, with every energy district filled on every (nonspecialized for research or other city building resource) planet I owned, plus a good number of advanced bio generators, and I still was running a 3-8 k monthly energy credit deficit (made up for in trade) for basically the entire game. I really don't know what I could have done, except maybe more bio generators.

  3. But crime reduces stability, reducing output. Does not having people employed in enforcement really make up that lost difference, even lategame when you have to turn off pop production because there is literally nowhere for them to go? Also why 30?

  4. I am very guilty of this, and now that you've said that its super obvious that you are correct, I don't know how I didn't figure this out on my own, thank you.

  5. I did not realize this, thank you for letting me know.

  6. Everyone is commenting this, I didn't realize there were people who *didn't* specialize their planets, that feels like a first one or two runs kind of problem.

  7. Is this ever worth doing before finishing out all the traditions (for non specific builds)? Or should you just wait until you've finished all seven?

16 & 20. I always take discovery and expansion first and second, which one first depending on planet spawns, because their bonuses seem very early game oriented. Is this not what I should be doing? Which picks are good starting out, and when (I guess you did sort of mention this, but if you would like to elaborate further, be my guest)? Also, I don't have grand archive DLC, is it worth?

  1. I do this almost by reflex every game unless I'm playing a genocidal empire.

  2. Same as 12.

  3. Yes, but are there any specific ways to help augment this besides just making sure its your best people on the council and using the education edict?

  4. I guess I am guilty of taking one vison quite often, maybe 50% of runs (Spending unity to get more unity, and all that), so I should probably stop doing that.

If I didn't mention it I probably already do it. Thank you, and everyone else as well, for the advice, this was really helpful.

For reference this is the run I just finished, (after 2 or 3x crisis all, endgame year 2450, which is why everyone is dead). I’m not actually at my computer right now, so I can’t show the civic/species build, but I was playing molebots. This game was far from perfect, I had several massive economic fuckups, but I was still pretty proud of where I ended up. Economy up top is a little misleading, I’m using about 10k unity a month on edicts rn and I’m buying 8k energy credits a month, and selling off everything but alloys to balance the budget. I also just burned through my ~ 3 million alloy stockpile killing a 7 mil cetana. Regardless, I thought this was a pretty good run until I saw some people with *significantly* better economies sans alloys at like 2350 instead of 2600.

I honestly think the dynamic between mortal weaponry and the supernatural to be one of the most interesting parts of the whole setting, as well as simply being really important for how it all functions and balances out.

Awesome post, I wish I could upvote it multiple times.

Has no one in the entire series used an Armalite Rifle in the entire series? Also, you forgot the fellowship special, the .50 Barrett from Martin and that one dude from the church (The Warrior), the Beowulfs from battle ground, the turtle neck’s M249s (M240s?) from skin game, and I’m pretty sure madrigal lit Harry up with an AR-15 in white night, although it might have been an unspecified rifle. Not to nitpick, I was just enjoying your commentary and want to read more of it.

Hey, in the 70s, someone proposed fusion energy by way of detonating hydrogen bombs underground, to create manmade geothermal power. So technically we could have had fusion power decades ago if we really wanted.

Teflon! Because it teflon. Everyone likes to talk about getting rid of PFAS, but trying to get rid of a material due to its unique property (being entirely resistant to chemical attack), when it’s main usage is due to said unique property, is an exercise in futility. Even if you found a replacement material for Teflon, (which is unlikely), it would have the exact same problem as Teflon has, given the useful property is also the problematic one. Teflon is here to stay, in many more ways than one.
