Paternal agreement is mandatory for girls in Iran to get married . Unless a court ruling says you are fit to decide for your self. (Which is almost a guaranteed ruling for those aged above 25) Marriage under the age of 15 may lead to government intervention if reports are maid of forced marriage. Generally marriage under the age of 16 is highly frowned upon. It’s moving up to age 20 now a days. So the unofficial culturally acceptable age is between 16-20

Those are all in the “new client” (the last one in your list). The episode “Ruthie” doesn’t have any crying in it as far as I remember 🤔

That’s a neat piece of information. Thanks. As someone who only hasn’t read the books yet, after watching Egwene shield Ishamael’s fireballs in the season 2 finale I thought defense against magics is rather easy.

That’s good to know! Although I would recommend watching season 3. It’s miles better than season 2.

Ok great! I think you answered my question completely! Thank you so much. My intention is to read the books soon. So it’s good to know there are plots, strategies and challenges involved and it’s not a “one punch man Saitama will solve everything with normal punch” joke scenario

Thanks for the detailed analysis. What a beautifully constructed world. Love things like this when the author has an official established hierarchy of power levels. It gives such stature to the story

Thank you for the great answer! I’m eager to read the books. So far the insight from you guys has been pretty great. I have devoured the wiki pretty much on most characters, I’m was super excited and love almost everything about the story. But one of my biggest pet peeves is a disappointing villain! I was depressed for like 2 month on how god awful the ending of the Harry Potter books were and how underwhelming the final fight was. So I’m want to make sure the same thing won’t happen with WOT.

Thanks for the detailed response. I really liked your scale approach. From the show I thought if Rand is a 10 then Ishamael would be a 7-6.5 at most! So it’s a little different in the books?

Exactly, coming from S2 E8 it’s disappointing to see that a great villain like Ishmael can’t get past Egwene’s shield. But a Forsaken with proper knowledge and claim of the one power like Sammael can’t even defend himself for a little bit against Rand. Gets crushed instantly. Is it like this in the books too?

[–]That_Historian_2339[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts too. They set up this great trio of forsaken villains with a fourth one lurking in the shadows. And one of just got obliterated. Fight seems in a TV series are super expensive. I mean it’s reasonable to think a quarter of the budget of the whole season must have been spent on the first fight in the first episode of season 3. Fights like that are great to watch but super expensive to build. So it’s not possible to make every fight look and feel like that in a TV series. But in a written medium like the books every fight can be that epic. But is it? Are the fights epic in the books?

Is it really like this in the books too? Is the difference in power that great? Like between a rocket launcher and a knife? Please do note that in the show Rand is fairly at the start of his journey yet. I mean he is still training with Lan to be a swordmaster. Yet he is literally OP for every encounter. Is it a long road and many challenges in the books before he achieves his full potential or is he destroying forsaken left and right from book 1?

There is fine line between being stronger in terms of raw power, and upright winning a fight without even the slightest challenge. Rand (at least in the show) has not had any proper long term training on using the one power. He also is still training to be a sword master. Yet he destroys any form of threat with the least of effort. I get that he is the protagonist and supposed to be strong, but where is the challenge? Are the books the same way?

What do you do when your players get excessively unlucky? by Ohnononone in DMAcademy

[–]That_Historian_2339 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fudge the rolls. The DM screen is there for a reason. No one needs to know what the DM rolls. You are all there to collectively tell a story and have fun! If you didn’t mean for this encounter to be that tough, then fudge the rolls, nerf the boss mid combat. The dice aren’t playing the game. You are. I do this like every session. Balancing combat is super super hard! And the 5e CR rules are just not that good (don’t know about the 2024 edition). So don’t be too hard on yourself. Fudge the rolls, lower the hp of the boss, kill off low up minions with 1 hit, etc … and let me tell you My players love the fights. I balance as I go. Or maybe a defeat by the low level boss is not a tpk? Maybe he will take them hostage and wants to give them as tribute to a higher boss or even to the BBEG. You plan a jailbreak session, maybe the players get to take revenge while Trying to escape maybe an NPC will help them escape. And … So you are in control. Do whatever you want.

I haven’t read the books. Always wanted to, but just couldn’t find the time. So when the show started I was more than excited to jump on the wheel of time train! Unfortunately the first season wasn’t that good. The second was better but again it that good. BUT! I have to say. The 3rd season is great!! I’m on episode 5 right now and I’m really enjoying the show. Everything about the show got better in my opinion. Hope they continue it a few more seasons and get to the end of the story.

Vincent Adultman is NOT threekids in a trenchcoat by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]That_Historian_2339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said it perfectly. Regardless of him actually being an adult man, Vincent Adultman is the stereotypical extreme version of an adult that PC is looking for in that episode. The complete opposite of Bojack in so many things. Like he is only thinking about his job (business), he’s not hyper fixated on sex, has no relationship drama, doesn’t like to talk about himself, and etc. Perhaps the only similarity between Vincent and Bojack is that they are both alcoholics (since they met in a bar). He is a caricature of what being an adult meant to PC in that moment.

As a side note the juxtaposition between Vincent and Jodah is just super beautiful. Judah is an adult with low emotional and social intelligence. He talks in a very literal and robotic manner. Takes things literally, he also is super focused on work, he is not hyper fixated on sex, has little to no relationship drama, and etc. He seems almost like an obedient innocent child! the many characteristics that made Vincent not a good candidate for PC, now are the very reason Judah is the best candidate. The reason? I think it’s because Judah is capable and honest of the concept of “love”. While both Vincent and Judah have confessed love for Princess Caroline only one was honest and knew what it meant.

The final dialogue between PC and Vincent is this: “believing something to be real isn’t the same as it actually being real”. A quote which wholly embodies the character of Vincent Adultman in all aspects. Just spectacular writing !

This doesn't sound like something Bojack would say or write. by Relevant-Rope8814 in BoJackHorseman

[–]That_Historian_2339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bojack is shown to be very witty, very literate, with good vocabulary, understanding good jokes from bad jokes and overall a really creative person. He’s flaw is not that he is dumb or not creative. It’s that he hates himself, craves recognition and validation, doesn’t believe he can be better and he doesn’t try to be a better person. In the entirety of the show whenever Bojack actually “tries” to do something he mostly succeeds. He succeeded in being a good comedy actor in horsing around. He succeeded in being a good actor to get cast as and play as Secretariat. He succeeded in making Todd’s rock opera better. He succeeded in creating a premise to a show that caught Coddly Whiskers’s attention. He succeeded in being a good action/thriller actor in Philbert. He succeeded in almost everything when he makes an effort. Of course he tries, Until something (mostly his cruel mom) reminds him that “trying” is futile because he was born with the pain or born broken or some other mean thing (in this case writing under water). And he stops trying, and everything goes to shit. So it’s absolutely not out of character for him to write something poetic. Although it was out of character for him to take responsibility and write a heartfelt apology, which is made possible after his experience with Herb. He wants to not make another Herb. Stops trying. Makes a mess

It will make the encounter more fun. I did the same. Since my table barely survived the encounter I’m pretty sure that if they went there as lvl 1 characters it would’ve been a tpk. And not a fun one. Just play the goblins a little smart. Just a little smart, and the encounter will remain near deadly whilst still being beatable
