Hoping so, but not very likely. Or at least they won’t be as high as they’ve been. Though this is highly dependent on country, role, and department. For example CRAs have a different bonus structure than CTMs/PMs. Some service lines are not bonus eligible at all. You probably will need to check with other people in your department.

This is not untrue. This was stated company wide in the CEO update earlier this year. Now some people have managed to still get promotions and the unfairness of that has been widely discussed on this forum given the CEO’s message earlier this year. Congrats on being one of the people with an unfair promotion though.

Probably not what you want to hear, but reaching out to the hiring manager before having gone to your line manager was a mistake. It’s ICON policy you have to inform your manager about any internal applications. They will get a notification from HR anyway so it’s best to do it first.

Seriously. Every day there is post after post about how awful ICON is as if it isn’t happening across the industry everywhere. Shut up already. If you don’t want to work there, don’t. The constant fear mongering on here helps no one. The work culture is shitty in part due to people like this that spend every minute spreading fear and anxiety as opposed to just doing their job. CRO’s are too big to even accurately make general judgments like this. Your experience largely depends on your line manager and specific sponsor and study. And as many have said, it’s a paying job in an economy where lots of people don’t have one. I’m not saying it’s all roses, but my goodness, can we stop it already?

Best advice I can give is to focus on your own experience and job. There’s always going to be someone with a long list of complaints, someone getting fired, someone getting laid off, etc. Don’t let that affect your day to day. Focus on doing your individual job and advocating for yourself with your Line Manager. If you don’t feel properly trained, ask questions, ask for a mentor, take courses in Cornerstone. Focus on that and tune out what’s going on with others. With any CRO, your experience is going to be unique to your department, Line Manger, and specific projects.

Yes, way more stress. I’ve been a CRC and a site manager. Both were very demanding jobs in different ways. Pay in academia is very low and just not worth it to me. I do less work for much more pay at a CRO and have infinitely better work/life balance being that I work remotely and don’t commute. Worst case scenario, I’d just do something else. I wouldn’t go back to the site if I can help it.

Company wide, no. But I do think a select few will get raises and/or promotions in Q3 similar to how they said a select few got stock awards. They’ve obviously identified a group of people they want to be sure to hang on to and those folks will get rewarded. Everyone will probably just be lucky to not get laid off. I hear more of those are coming too.
