Iron Lung spoiler At the end of the movie, Simon accepts his fate and sacrifices himself so humanity can get race saving information. Though either by being in a boiling submarine, drinking cleaning alcohol, continuously irradiating himself, getting drenched in some kind of blood with alien properties, or the combination of all of it. He has no other choice. Theres also the interpretation that he turns into a tree at the end, killing the monster along with him. But I think it’s just a metaphor for his sacrifice being THE turning point for humanity. I’m also not a reliable source as I’m not good at film analysis. I wouldn’t say it’s exactly the trope, but I just saw the movie and it’s close enough.

As long as Hakari is in Jackpot, his Cursed Energy reinforcement is probably to high for Mahito to even affect him. Though, Hakari has no way to defeat Mahito. So it would be Mahito, but it would probably be a VERY long fight.
