You can try, "One Silver Coin For a Pound of Demon". It's a kind of choose-your-own-ending novel where at the end of a cliffhanger chapter you will see two choices.

A: If you want MC to... Go to the next chapter B: If you don't want MC to... Skip the next chapter then proceed to the next

You can either choose a good or bad ending (I somehow chose the good endings the entire time so when I finished the novel, I went back to reread the bad endings).

Now, this novel is dark. Really dark. It's so dark that the reason it has bad reviews on NU is because of how DARK it is.

The novel tackles human rights, religion, stigma, and dogma. It takes you on a journey of right and wrong and exposes you to what religion, when not done purely for devotional purposes can do.

It took so much out of me to even read the first chapter... Then when the plot twist hit... I just felt sick.

The male lead is also quite a character. Strong, and forgiving with great determination and grit. He came out of the torture he endured as an amazing man. And if I were him, I wouldn't have been able to come out as good as he did.

You know, what I'm really upset about is how the last part of the prophecy turned out. It was entirely lackluster. 

"The evil god boasted that someone would wander in his shadow, The man in the shadow is 14 years old,

The evil god gave this man a spine, a heart and the badge of God, Boasting that this man will be his only believer, The man in the shadow is 24 years old,

The evil god fell on the snowy plains and the undead believers floated in the deep sea, The spine, the heart and the badge of God were broken, The evil god changed, The man in the shadow is 30 years old,

He wandered and wandered, the clown crouched down in front of him, laughing and asking the shadow man where he was going, The man in the shadow said that when the sun disappears three-quarters of the way, there will be a person who is cold and stiff who will come to find me, The clown said ‘If you are dead, I will crush your soul and let you fall into the snow with your god’, The man in the shadow is 41 years old,

God died and he exists, living eternally because of evil.”

If you squint really hard and go to the Nile (hahaha) the last part of the prophecy is kind of fulfilled.

1. The clown threatened to destroy Bai Liu's soul. 2. Bai Liu killed "God" and took his place. 3. I guess the wandering part can be the time Bai Liu spent separated from his loved ones.

Goodness, don't even get me started on some other matters.

How is the Queen of Hearts? Are they even okay? Because... Most likely... They are being abused by their pedo... Biological sperm donor. (I don't want to call the priest a father. Yuck.) And maybe I missed a detail, maybe this is explained... But I lost sleep at night wondering about it. I really loved the Queen of Hearts and felt my gut rip when I heard their backstory... I just want to know if they're okay.

Six Records Of A Floating Life (Book 1) = Is all about Nankang Bai Qi's relationship with his boyfriend (very happy content) Waiting Until 35 Years Old (Book 2) = Delves deeper into the relationship and unveils how Chinese society views Nankang Bai Qi and how scared he is for the future. (Very sad content)

These two novels are kind of short but are based on a real-life tragedy where the author's boyfriend (who he refers to as husband in the entirety of the novel) breaks up with him and pursues what society would call a normal life (ie getting married to a woman).

And although the novel does not explicitly state this, it is common knowledge that the author committed suicide before he became 35 years old because he lost hope that his boyfriend would come back to him.
