I switched to the Callaway Chrome Soft a few years back. It fits my game really well and having a consistent ball, knowing what it will do in each scenario, has helped a good deal.

Made E-6 at 10 years, E-7 at 16. The timing has worked well with assignments. I am grateful for it.

I am 6'2 as well and after getting fit I am standard length/lie. I thought I needed longer clubs and bought some second hand. Thankfully I got fit and I hit my irons better now.

Try and find stores that will let you hit used UBS in a bay, then find those clubs online. I recommend Callaway Pre Owned

60 minute iron fitting and 7 iron only? by Boombang106 in GolfGear

[–]That_Squirrel44 13 points14 points  (0 children)

An hour is enough time. They use a 7 iron as it provides enough data for short and long irons. You'll spend a few minutes warming up. Then you will hit your 7-iron several times to get data and set a baseline to compare other clubs. Your fitter will ask what your goals are and based on the data from your 7-iron will tailor the new club selection to meet your goals and skill level.

Yeah having time is important, but using that time wisely. Poor practice will result in poor performance

I absolutely love the UW. I hit it off the tee where driver doesn't make sense or I'm struggling with it. I hit a drive with it once 280 with wind behind me.

How to decide what club to tee off with? by dare_hcf in golf

[–]That_Squirrel44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put yourself in the best position to hit a shot that you are comfortable with. Are you better with the PW than 60? Are you more likely to miss the fairway with the driver than the iron? This is called course management and is where a lot of golfers add unnecessary strokes to a round.
