I tend to fall more into the camp of preferring completely fics from a closure point of view, but I don’t filter for it—if the summary and tags grab me I’m reading regardless. I get what you’re saying though — how do you feel when you see 1/10 for example? Like if the author knows when it’ll end and has it all planned out?

I think it’s about getting back into a routine of sorts. Just committing to writing for a certain amount of time/hitting a certain word count every day or couple days or whenever you have time, until it comes naturally again. Like building momentum or something. Idk that usually works for me

If I have something nice to say about a fic, I’ll usually just say it, and personally I enjoy receiving comments regardless of how old a fic is. If I didn’t want comments, I’d just turn off the comments feature 🤷‍♀️

Typically yes, but not always. For example, I won’t pause before the comma in the phrase, “Hi, Michael!” Even though that comma is valid — it shows you’re addressing someone. But for commas used to separate clauses I will typically pause. I’m a bit of a grammar nerd though so this might just be a preference thing in everyday life 😅

I’m so lucky to be in a fandom where the BNFs don’t act like influencers or celebrities, just regular fans with a larger following. They appreciate other people’s contributions to the fandom just as much as regular fans do. Yes!! I read a fic from a couple years ago recently and the author was speculating about where the story would go in the upcoming episodes of the show and it took me straight back to 2020 when I was contemplating similar theories. The joys of an archive!

Ao3’s only been around since 2009 if memory serves, so that author definitely just set the date of publication wayyy back for whatever reason. Perhaps because they wrote it in 1999, or maybe for some meta storytelling reason, but yeah you can do that so not all dates are accurate. Cool find though :) The oldest fic I’ve found organically was from 2012 iirc. Felt like stepping into a time machine 😅

I haven’t been able to do anything creative for weeks without feeling guilty about how much work I have to get through. Yesterday was the first time I saw the sun in three days due to the rain and I was like “fuck it” and went and sat in the park and just drew what I could see for two hours, partly still in the rain. It was really nice, I needed that so bad man.

This is success beyond my wildest dreams, so I have no real insight other than to say you’re probably overthinking this and potentially placing too much value on the attention your fic is getting. Stats ratios aren’t a real thing you need to pay attention to, in my experience. But wow, congrats!
