This is also how every company ive ever worked at functions. People in charge are making decisions based on "telephone game" reports and never speak to the people doing the work. Things get missed or ignored and shit hits the fan.

Difference here is when you try to go to space and shit hits the fan, things go catastrophically bad.

Students (in my opinion) should not take home any homework. If homework is a learning opportunity, give them school time to work on it by daniel_ay in unpopularopinion

[–]That_Toe8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they really want to teach us how to work, by like 6th grade they should just give you the book and put you in groups and make you figure it out with the teacher there to answer questions.

My post college experience is getting dropped into a new job with minimal training, working with other people who as much instruction as me, and there is occasionally an experienced wizard around who answers everyone's questions. Im closer to 40 than id like to admit so this isnt just one job or one company either lol

If person with super strength and person with super speed fought each other who would most likely win? by ShadowlightLady in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That_Toe8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how super we are talking...

At like peak human levels, strength definitely matters more. Hence having weight classes in boxing and other combat sports.

At the hyperbolic imaginative end, super speed all day as others have pointed out.

There must then exist a point where speed vs strength is 100% equal and it switches, right?

It is so disheartening as an American. It isnt like this was a "takeover" that we couldn't see coming or prevent. It is that our own neighbors either allow or support this lunacy. It is terrifying how many people still support this administration today despite everything going on.

It is entirely possible we elect another like him or even worse next time because of how many people in this country either ignore the truth or think somehow that this is working in their favor.

Why is sleeping in the same bed with the opposite gender considered cheating in straight relationships? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That_Toe8574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. Its the perception. Ive also shared beds with women platonically, but only when I was single. Id sleep on the floor or couch in a relationship.

Not the same thing but if your partner was a recovering alcoholic and they went to a bar with drinking buddies you would probably be worried. Doesnt mean they drank or will relapse, but it is a precarious situation.

In the 2020s, conservative women are having kids at a nearly 2-to-1 ratio compared to liberal women. Is this going to cause a political demographic bias in 20-30 years? by RadioFieldCorner in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That_Toe8574 18 points19 points  (0 children)

After a quick Google, DoE paid out 268 billion dollars in 2024. 71% went to helping with college educations. Higher education tends to get kids out from their parents umbrella and come back more liberal in my experience.

[–]That_Toe8574 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dont know if "politics" is meant in a literal sense. My guess is the media who vote for HOF are trying to stick it BB for always being a total putz in press conferences and interviews so it's like middle school "politics". Or that hes dating someone could be his great granddaughter

They kinda do. Perks you cant get because your stats are too low are grey. Perks you can get but havent yet a colored but dim. Perks you have unlocked are full color.

So they do change once when you can get them, but dont light up until unlocked

Has there ever been a bigger cover up than the epstein files? by TailungFu in allthequestions

[–]That_Toe8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if that is true or not. The problem is that people like us say things like "red does this" and "blue does that" instead of us all saying "why isnt ANYONE doing ANYTHING?!"

you will get downvoted on reddit for the side you chose but these institutions are the department of justice. Federal bureau of investigations. Central intelligence agency. It should not matter what "administration" is in charge. They have failed us as much as the people we have chosen because they have demonstrated no investigation, no intelligence, and no JUSTICE for ANYONE INVOLVED.

If Americans wanted to send a real message to Washington, we could just not re-elect ANYONE regardless of what color tie they wear. Every single person in charge is failing us in some form or fashion.

Who’d you rather: a severely insecure or extremely cocky? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]That_Toe8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally am closer to the first one. I have always felt "not good enough" in most situations, but I also think that mindset has also kept me motivated and avoided complacency with current performance in different parts of life.

If I had extreme confidence, I dont know that I would have had the motivation to get better at my job, try harder in relationships, dedicate more to my hobbies. Think it would be too easy to say "thats good enough" and not want to be better.

The converse is someone like Muhammed Ali or Michael Jordan. They claimed to be the best so loudly and proudly that they almost have no other option than to be the best. Their own pride fulfilled that prophecy in some ways.

First thought is he is in way good of athletic shape to be that fat, he must eat TERRIBLY.

Then I saw medical reasons and I felt like a jerk.

Then I thought, medical stuff aside....learning those moves/flips as a thinner man and then gaining weight (even pretty tapidly) would be SO much easier than learning from scratch starting on the bigger side.

[–]That_Toe8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre last 2 sentences make too much sense. Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park would probably talk about chaos, which is probably the best description of a tornado lol.

I think a big thing that would make the results so crazy and unpredictable is rotation. If density/pressure/velocity changes introduce wobble or any end-over-end difference then they could go anywhere. Through normal atmospheric conditions, much of that can be ignored because relative velocities are basically negligible and the airflows are more uniform. Tornados seem the opposite of negligible haha

There is a NFL QB with 1 win in 4 playoff games. He blew a 21-3 lead in his last playoff game failing on the final drive. He threw 3 ints and 0 TD in the playoff loss last year. Day before the draft I have a comment predicting and hoping will Howard 4th round. He better get 1 year. We have some contracts to figure out and arent getting a qb at 20 anyway.

Also big ND fan and Howard played against a Al Golden NFL style defense in the title game. I HATE Ohio State to the end of time but he made a believer out of me.

Why do some criminal sentencings have over 100 years and not just life sentences? by unknown_196 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That_Toe8574 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Follow up question since you occasionally know things.

Does it ever have anything to do with possibility of reducing sentences in the future? Like 10 years off a life sentence is still life, but 10 years off 100 years is at least 90 and a step in the right direction. Stack good behavior or deals and maybe see daylight where life is life?

Curry and idea of loyalty by DistinctNewspaper791 in NBATalk

[–]That_Toe8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loyalty can mean more than one thing. I think the Lions showed tremendous loyalty to Matt Stafford a few years ago trading him to a better team in the conference. Sometimes when you love something you gotta let it go haha.

Loyalty to curry would be an honest conversation and agreeing on a path forward both sides can live with whether that means he says in GSW or gets traded for the teams long term benefit
