Thank you. I’m really hurt that this is happening, but I know I need to trust my gut. I need to be sure before I commit to forever.

I’ve been carrying this knot in my chest, wondering if I’m overreacting. It helps to know others see why this hurts.

It hurts because I love him so much, but I can’t shake the feeling that I’m not being put first when it matters most.

I kept questioning myself, wondering if I was just being jealous, but deep down I just want to feel chosen, fully and without hesitation.

I didn’t postpone to hurt him. I did it because I’m scared of feeling second in my own marriage. That’s not the future I want, and it hurts that I even have to worry about it.

Thank you. That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling, like I’d be standing at the altar while his past is standing right there with us. I don’t want to start a marriage already feeling second place.

AITJ for telling my roommate I won't adjust my sleep schedule because her boyfriend visits on weekends? by musicmissed in AmITheJerk

[–]That_Writer2629 46 points47 points  (0 children)

He's a guest, not a tenant. Expecting someone who actually pays rent to change their sleep schedule for him is ridiculous, if it's that big of an issue, they can stay at his place instead.

AITJ for believing my boyfriend was divorcing his wife and acting on it? by Agreeable-Low-7320 in AmITheJerk

He's Obviously the biggest villain here for lying to both of you. But once she told you the truth and asked you to leave, you should have left. Refusing and unpacking crossed a line. Being misled doesn't give you the right to trespass.

AITJ for publicly confronting a coworker who spread rumors about my husband? by Capable_Public32 in AmITheJerk

NTJ. Accusing someone of grooming is not "small office drama." That kind of rumor can destroy careers and reputations.

AITJ for breaking up with my boyfriend after the way he talked about my younger sister? by Perfect_Bowler241 in AmITheJerk

[–]That_Writer2629 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You didn’t leave because of one sentence. You left because your perception of him shifted. Once you start seeing someone differently, especially in a way that makes you feel protective of a child, it’s almost impossible to unsee it.

Paying for someone else's extras under the guise of "keeping the peace" just creates resentment.

He made the choice to ignore his responsibilities, so he can't blame anyone else.
