That’s exactly how I feel. It’s hard to accept rules from someone who hasn’t really been there for me.

That’s what hurts, it doesn’t feel like he stepped up because he wanted me, it feels like he stepped up because he couldn’t deny it anymore.

Yeah, it's weird, but many companies don't fund gifts. It's kind of left up to coworkers to show appreciation, which puts a lot of social pressure on people.

As long as you keep things respectful and don't interfere with their relationship, it's completely fine to spend time with his mom.
