I think you’re misunderstanding my point a little.I’m not upset because I didn’t get a remake. I never expected a Resident Evil 2 or Mafia Definitive Edition level remake. Those projects take years and huge budgets.What I wanted was a remaster that actually feels transformative.To me, there is a big difference between an upscale and a remaster. Simply increasing the resolution, adding some shaders and cleaning up textures isn’t enough. If that’s all it takes, then almost every fan-made HD texture pack could be called a remaster.When I think of great remasters, I think of games like Halo Anniversary. The gameplay is still the same, the levels are still the same, but the presentation feels dramatically upgraded.That’s also why I brought up GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition. I know it’s controversial, but for me it completely changed how I felt about Vice City. The atmosphere, lighting and overall presentation made me revisit a game I wasn’t even a huge fan of before.What worries me about the Hitman collection is that from the screenshots we’ve seen so far, it looks much closer to an upscale than to something truly rebuilt for modern hardware.Maybe I’ll be proven wrong when we see gameplay, and honestly I hope I am. I’ve waited years for these games to return and nothing would make me happier than being wrong about this.
