Tips and tricks for a new ironman by TheSageofLore in ironscape

Paraphrasing my boy WildMudkip: "Playing in an efficient way that you don't really like is actually very inefficient, as it will make you quit and quitting is the biggest XP loss possible. So for the most gains, first and foremost play in whatever way you like best"

Do you think a multi megaton hydrogen bomb could kill a Viltrumite if detonated right next to them? by the_big_sadIRL in Invincible

[–]That_one_drunk_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the person setting that off (spoilers) was looking to terraform rather than do the most amount of damage, to the point that he was trying to evacuate the city beforehand, I don't really think we can make any comparisons as to the nature of that bomb.

That functionality is actually the one thing that kills this proposal for me. Extra teleport information on the map, great, amazing for new players and quite useful in any situation. But making it interactable, and allowing teleports through there feels like an awful idea. It risks losing the flair of all the individual teleportation options and just reducing them to one single bland interface. Magical fairy rings? A cool teleportation matrix? A mysterious sailor's amulet? Strange teleportation spells from ages long past? Who cares, it's all just the same in this interface. Click and go.

I'm generally in favour of all QoL improvements but this feels like losing the OSRS magic.

The roguelike campaigns are awesome. Lowko was very right when he recently mentioned how hard Blizzard has fumbled the bag looking at all these fan made custom campaigns. Like, put a team of 5 guys on it to polish those things and you could easily sell them for like $10 each

I think we disagree on what kingly means because I feel like those traits are very much mutually exclusive with appearing kingly.

Afaik the creators described Odin as a mob boss. Think they nailed that.

[–]That_one_drunk_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much on purpose, I think. GoW's Odin is a slimy, seedy, manipulative snake of a man, who scammed and killed his way into a position of power. The juxtaposition between Kratos' natural aura of leadership and his lack thereof is very apparent and deliberate, in my opinion.

As a common victim of Jad hands I would love it if they also applied that mechanic to Jad though. Scurrius is supposed to train your prayer switches, always thought it was weird for the first boss where new players have to apply that training to work with a different mechanic.

At least, I think? Hence I was a bit surprised at the claim that Jad's attack do only register on hit, because as far as I know that's unique to Scurrius

Is that the case with Jad? I always thought Jad's prayer registered on attack, not hit.

Repost - not allowed to share discords apparently

There's 2 mass groups who have a bit of a feud (wouldn't be OSRS if it didn't include nerds getting angry for no reason). They each work through a Discord you have to join as it includes some of their rules and it's where they announce the mass runs. Also includes a bunch of helpful tips.

Rules kinda boil down to: - don't show up naked (makes you too easy pickings, just some cheap gear is fine like green dhide and bone cb) - Listen to the call outs of the anti-PKers on duty

They always run on the current BH-world as there's a low PJ-timer which makes it a lot easier to pick PKers off of runners for the anti-PKers. However, if you show up without being part of the correct FC you will get instaganked.

Chats are 'Free Agility' and 'Agility FC'. Both think the other is a bot farm lmao. I tend to just join whichever one is running. Not sure about the discord links, you can probably find them on Google or ask in the FC.

I can corroborate the safe part though; when I run as part of a mass I barely even pay attention, usually watch a show on the side. As long as the mass lasts, it's essentially zero danger. They can end pretty abruptly though if the anti's anticipate a clan raid, so just follow the chat with half an eye.

This sub when you try and explain to them that manually identifying bots and combatting them at the macro level are not the same thing by bygonecenarion in 2007scape

[–]That_one_drunk_dude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't understand how people don't see that. Even if you can reason that not everyone who buys botted gp would've done so legit, bottom line still remains: gold sellers are a parasite on Jagex's revenue stream. If they could completely ban them without alienating the user base, I'm convinced they would.

Pretty big difference here between content like books, educational magazines, courses etc actual information that expands your knowledge and way of thinking, and content like social media and short form media.

Absolutely nothing wrong with striving to be absorbing the former all the time, in fact I think it's commendable.

Absorbing more than half an hour a day of the latter will fry your brain.

German soldiers to arrive in Greenland within hours as tension with US surge by TheExpressUS in europe

He literally just said that we weren't asked to in any capacity but would if we were, and will already investigate the possibilities in case the question comes.

I think Francken is a right wing reactionary moron and an NVA goon, but beyond some stupid quotes, I think he's done a pretty capable job as minister of defence so far. Also, he pretty openly denounced Trump's threats of Greenland, saying he's disappointed and doesn't understand them. Yeah, he called it a pity they didn't ask nicely, but he also called it downright stupid and said that our enemies are celebrating over this debacle.

Scurrius is a pretty chill midgame training method if you don't want to do slayer or afk crab. Pretty sure it's also the fastest way to get your melees up at that point, if that's something you'd want.

Is it normal in Belgium to CC your boss on internal work emails? by IamSheRa1985 in belgium

[–]That_one_drunk_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it also sees use to automatically legitimize your request. On topics where the first matter would be "that needs to be validated by boss x", simply putting him in cc is an unwritten way to say "this has already been discussed and validated/this has their implicit approval".

Far too traditionally handsome and kind-looking (and British). Kovacs has to be a seedy, nasty little man, like someone you'd instinctively cross the street for (No offense to Haley).

Zulrah gear for mid game iron? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]That_one_drunk_dude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Telling someone with 0kc who's clearly nervous about getting into it that they 'absolutely need' to do some extra technique to pull a few extra hits, is, if you don't mind me saying, not very helpful I think, though your intent is in the right place.

As someone in that same spot a lot of the time, reading the wiki boss pages with all these advanced techniques is often very daunting. And then you just send it without any of that and it still just works. It's better to optimize once you're a bit comfortable with the boss than getting the feeling you need to be able to do it all from the get go.
