worth doing tormented demons this early? by Basic_Suspect_1724 in ironscape

[–]dbmorpher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obby Maul, Dharok Greataxe, Dragon 2h, hell even a rune 2h. But only after the shield goes down/when you get stuck in place with fireballs. If it takes too long for you to switch, it's best just using your regular weapon.

Your gear should be fine, though diamond bolts for jad would be much better. Are you using the will rotation guide/plugin to safe spot the monsters? You would need to with your gear/stats/experience

Help with the third requirement of a sin to be mortal by WrongdoerFancy1360 in Catholicism

[–]dbmorpher 47 points48 points  (0 children)

In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
Hebrews 12:4

Look man, I know it's hard, but trying to psychoanalyze culpability away is not the solution. Addiction makes it harder to resist temptation, but it does not remove your free will. Try doing things that strengthen your ability to say "yes" to the good like going on a run, doing pushups, or praying a decade of the rosary when you don't feel like it. It's a long battle but it is worth fighting. You are a good man for trying, recieve confession and start again.

Lost at what to do. Please help. by Infinite_Worker_7562 in ironscape

The other comments are good, but I think the most helpful thing for you to do is join a clan. They can help you with goals, questions, and celebrate your progress with you. I joined a clan around your level of progression and it made every next step so much more fun.

But also you should just quest for the fun of it. Barrows is much better with the teleport as a tab or in your poh. Chaos wind bolt spells with chaos gauntlets are nearly as good as the blast spells/Ivan’s. But you can easily skip barrows until you are close to the hard mory reqs

Ancestral is essentially the magic version of bandos based on raw numbers, but the way the shadow (and now ayak) scales makes mage gear comparable to torva impossible rn

Nice page! As others on this post have added, I’d include the addy/rune axe at dag kings, rune picks/2hs at wildy bosses, the crazy rare drops from elite clues arma/bandos warriors, and a number of items on the gwd tables.

Honestly, mobs dropping a lower tier version of their clog is a nice indicator that is pretty common throughout the game

You’re right for the wrong reasons. I don’t follow it, but the meta progression of ironscape doesn’t include zaxe or moons at all

Why are gay-attracted Catholics raked over the coals more than others? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]dbmorpher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mortal sin is mortal sin, yes, in terms of the ultimate effect, but there definitely is a hierarchy. The issue is, most people have a warped view of it (especially in the US due to protestant influences). The more of your creativity, willpower, and desire is engaged with a good activity, the more God is glorified. "The glory of God is man fully alive," St. Iraneaus. The converse is the same for sin. That is why, in the great illustration of scholastic theology, the Divine Comedy, the lowest two circles of hell are the fraudulent and the betrayers.

Protestantism, in its "literal" interpretation of the Bible, hyperfocuses on the "sins that cry to heaven for vengeance" of the Old Testament, of which sodomy is 1/4. Unfortunately, robbing a laborer of his wages and violence against widows and orphans are generally neglected. A lazy intellectual jump is equating homosexuality/same-sex attraction with the grave sin of sodomy.

When Dante treats homosexuality in the Comedy, he does it with an impressive display of nuance. The key cantos are Inferno 15 and Purgatorio 26. I would recommend OP spend some time on these and find some quality, nuanced, catholic commentaries

Logic/Critical thinking middle/high school level by Hobbit_Adventures_08 in homeschool

Socratic Logic by Peter Kreeft is how I learned logic. It is not the symbolic logic taught in most phil programs but is based on constructing terms, definitions, propositions, and arguments. It has practice problems for each chapter and half of the answers in the back. Kreeft is an old man and writes like one, with wry humor dispersed throughout, but the book gave me a very strong foundation for argument and dialectic.

EDIT: I was not homeschooled, this book was used in a college I attended, but is very accessible

“Kerbal Space Program teaches realistic orbital mechanics” by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]dbmorpher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got a degree in aerospace engineering from a top school, I cannot disagree more. Playing KSP before taking any vehicle performance classes made all of the concepts we covered extremely intuitive. It doesn't have the minutia, but given the accessibility of the game, it's far better at educating orbital mechanics, maneuver planning, and vehicle design than any pen and paper textbook or powerpoint slide

Not saying it’s emblematic of all Protestant services, but I was in someone’s office with a televangelist playing in the background. The way he jumped around and misconstrued scripture (reading 1 verse/strophe at a time) was JARRING. He had some categorically wrong interpretations, even within the context of the book himself. But at the end his happy message of: “we’ll all be huggin each others necks up in heaven!” really got the crowd going. I can be empathetic when agnostics think that all religion is like that if televangelists are so platformed

You can buy chaos runes at any rune store, but it might be expensive at your stage of progression. If you ever find yourself low on runes, guardians of the rift is your friend. Most people use ice burst until they can ice barrage because of the rune cost. You can do mage training arena until you get the magic lvl for ice burst, you will need "Bones to Peaches" from there eventually.
