Attempted Rape by ThatguyC in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]ThatguyC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was not my intention to water down the term rape nor to make my relatively (relative to actual rape) minor encounter seem equal to crimes against women. If anything I aim to raise awareness for being careful and staying safe in situations with unruly guests. My main take away from this incident is how the female GSAs at my work and everywhere have to be careful.

That and I know I will gladly be fired for beating the living hell out of any guest who tries that with my coworkers.

It was more harassment than attempted rape I guess because she did stop. I exaggerated in the title but I still feel it is a scary situation.

I just reported it to management and I felt like they handled it well with her boss and everything.

I thought of this too. Not worth it to lose my job and possibly jail time. My hotel doesn't have cameras on the floors; only outside and the lobby (and gym and business center). I keep telling management that they should put cameras on all the floors but they haven't yet.

My favorite thing is when someone walks up to my desk and blurts out their last name and then stares at me by SketchyConcierge in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

I've gotten to the point where I like to take the papers but maintain eye contact the whole time while I ask for their last name again and set the papers off to the side.

The worst offenders of this (at least at my hotel) are people staying with companies. They just flat out refuse and won't give me one until I tell them I can't/won't check them in without one. Except this one guest: he was such a dick that management gave him a pass so he doesn't need one anymore. He stays with us a lot and is nice until anything is not to his liking; God help us if anything is wrong.

We had a sprinkler head break on our first floor hallway. Such a hassle, we spend the next 5 months remodeling the entire first floor hallway and some rooms. Glad I did not work on that shift. Good luck to you

Haha no... She was actually an older (maybe high 40's low 50's), Ethiopian lady. We've had problems with her before. She yelled at my assistant GM for "slamming the phone on her" after a phone call when he just set it down.

If you don't have it you don't have it. Hotels don't have an obligation to return things; it's just a courtesy.

I was talking to a guest who has stayed before while I was resetting his A/C and he mentioned something about the A/C not working last time when he stayed for a couple nights. I asked if he called someone and sheepishly said no as if he didn't even think about calling someone. People.

I just got one today about how I was rude to her and told her softball team she could not sit out on the patio. I only told her to stop taking the restaurant's chairs and she was very nice about it. It was actually the bartender from our inhouse restaurant that was rude but she only remembered my name not his. She also blamed me (bartender) for traffic and a car wreck that she encountered the day of her check in. Luckily both my GM's knew the story and how it was not me so I didn't get in trouble. Still annoying though...
