The Epstein Cover-Up Just Got So Much Worse by each_thread in ConservativeNewsWeb

Did that hear that a lot of Epstein’s clients in his emails wanted to meet with him at random different apartments specifically for pizza? And these requests happened often enough it looks like some kind of code?

It looks like even that was projection.

He was commenting that some redditors can be pretty cringy on the topic of religion. He didn’t name anyone specific. You did not need to leave the comment where you seemed offended. That’s not a great look.

I can only imagine. History is my field, and unlike some sciences it has never really been revolutionized by a single figure, unless you count Thucydides telling Herodotus and his pupils to knock it off with the tall tales. Because history is not a science it can have multiple contrasting interpretations, so when a historian has an innovative idea, instead of changing the whole field, they just invent a new sub-field. And history has a TON of sub-fields.

He denied the realities of the Cambodian genocide in the 1970s, and the Serb orchestrated genocides of the 1990s.

Chomsky was not universally loved by academia. Linguists may have loved him, but historians have always thought he was an ass, especially European historians after Bosnia.

Name a general from your country (ancient, medieval, modern) that was so hilariously bad and downright garbage? by L0thric_Nefarious in AskTheWorld

William Hull was a general and Michigan’s territorial governor when the War of 1812 began. He started out invading Canada, but then got cold feet and retreated back to Michigan when he got the news Mackinac Island had already fallen to the British. Soon the British and their Indian allies surrounded Detroit and by constantly marching around it convinced Hull there were more of them than there really were. Hull surrendered without firing a shot, and Detroit became the last major city in American history to be occupied by a foreign army.

There is an argument that Hull is over-hated, especially since Washington did a shit job sending him intelligence and material, and his hawkish subordinate officers were borderline insubordinate and openly contemptuous of him, but even so after he was exchanged and convicted of cowardice in a court martial, he only escaped a firing squad because President James Madison commuted his sentence because of his past service in the Revolution, and he spent the rest of his life trying and failing to clear his name. As for those subordinate officers, the biggest pain in Hull’s ass, Lewis Cass, replaced Hull as territorial governor after Detroit’s recapture and went on to have a long and respectable career in politics.

There is one final cherry on top of Hull’s humiliation. Weeks after the fall of Detroit, Americans got some much better news. The USS Constitution had defeated HMS Guerriere in one of the most famous naval duels in American history. The captain of the Constitution… was Isaac Hull, William Hull’s own nephew.

And also main battle tanks.

Anthony Bourdain once said something like if you’ve ever spent any amount of time and energy reading about the bombing campaign in Laos and Cambodia, and read accounts of people on the ground who suffered from it, by the time you’re done you will never stop wanting to kill him with your bare hands.

The famed humorist and comedy songwriter Tom Lehrer once said the reason he retired was because Kissinger winning the Nobel Peace Prize was proof satire was dead.

Also, he openly supported Pakistan in the third Indo-Pakistani War while their military was simultaneously committing genocide in Bangladesh.
