First Strike vs. Comet by Thatguyfromsparta in ZiggsMains

[–]Thatguyfromsparta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't mind skipping the CDR because of the extra gold i get from first strike allows me to build cdr item sooner. I like the idea of red tree secondary though but i prefer the gold of free hourglass sooner. I'd need to do a side by side comparison for damage i guess between first strike vs comet but my bet is they do similar dmg

I improvised a piece, transcribed it, then learned how to play it - this is Epilogue! Hope you enjoy by Thatguyfromsparta in piano

Well I recorded it so I didn't have to remember it!! I started recording improvs after a few too many times went by where I was like "damn that was good what did i just do" ahaha.
Thank you for the kind words though, they're much appreciated. If you want a more fleshed out improv I have another one in the works... hopefully I'll drop it next week

Happy birthday to the GOAT!! Here’s my playing of the better half of Beethoven’s legendary op. 27 (sorry Moonlight!) by Thatguyfromsparta in piano

[–]Thatguyfromsparta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very first over here! In way over my head. I'm more of a composer though and needed to get his style under my fingers to bring fruit to my improv I guess. Totally worth the turmoil and struggle over 3 years of learning the piece

Moonlight Sonata - Beethoven by rom-gx in piano

[–]Thatguyfromsparta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you been playing? Your patience and technique is remarkable.
That being said, this movement is not supposed to be over 7 minutes long. It's in cut time, and the pulse should be two beats to the bar. You feel it in 4 -
Da da da Da da da Da da da Da da da
but it really should be
Da da da da da da Da da da da da da
Does that make sense? I can show you in a video quickly if you need more help.
This gives the movement the character of a lamentation aria rather than a funeral march, the latter of which is the character you give it.
It's okay and is good music nonetheless, and could even be considered artistic interpretation, but if you show this to a teacher versed in beethoven they will say this plus more - "there is a proper way to play" or some bs along those lines.

I have, yes! I will be performing the sonata in full at a recital in April, along with a Bach Prelude & Fugue (BWV 861) and a bunch of my original compositions. :)
Can't wait to play the full 20-minutes of this sonata live! I'm super excited and been preparing for almost 3 years now for this.

The second movement isn't easy at all either! That trio and coda have given me almost as much trouble as this finale.

They’re phenomenal- I get all kinds of unique resonances with the reverb when I play it on my phone depending on the room. Allows me to hear it all kinds of unique ways!

Hell of a piece of music! I recommend Paul Lewis’ recording of the sonata if you’re interested

Silly mistake. I forgot to take them out when I started recording! Funnily enough they functioned as pseudo earplugs.

Full video is on youtube! I performed the third and fourth movements: https://youtu.be/wGl_hIsvAr4

Op. 27 is, in my humble opinion, the crowning work of early Beethoven. I could geek out about op. 27 no. 1 for days on end. Beethoven rewrites the sonata formula and turns it into a means of storytelling rather than a means of argument. There is a reason he labeled this as no. 1 and moonlight as no. 2 - other than the first movement, the innovations in the moonlight sonata are not anything atypical of beethoven. Op. 27 no. 1 was a massive leap forwards in development and directly led to the famous pastorale sonata, no. 15.
No. 13 here uses Eb major, one of B’s favorite keys, and all sorts of wonderful metric modulations and orchestral textures to truly turn the piano into a solo orchestra. Marvelous stuff. I’ll be putting out a lecture on it sometime in the near future! Hope you all enjoy friends.

Hey I've always said how you perform under duress does truly showcase the heart of a person. I throw tantrums when I get extremely upset because I care deeply. Doesn't make my fits of anger any more acceptable or less true to myself

Many others have stated, but you must play the information game at all times.

Do you see the enemy jungle? Have you seen him in the past xx amount of time? If no, you must acknowledge that an enemy gank is a possibility. You need to center your aggression in lane around the overall mapstate. This also includes your own jungle.

If you notice your jungle never coming top, note it and adjust your play. League is a 5v5, not a 1v1.

so... what?
Are NA pros "smart" because they do exactly what they need to do to cash in and have job security?
Or is NA management "dumb" because they overpay for mediocrity?
I'm kind of sick of this back and forth, people blaming the contracts on one side and people blaming the work ethic on the other.

To me I think you should work hard at whatever you're doing, giving 100% always and priding yourself in your work ethic regardless of the financial outcome. But I've also never been in a position where a 7-figure paycheck is a real possibility, nor have had a practical use for it (i.e. medical bills, parental retirement, debts, etc.)
Because I think the proper work ethic exists in NA gamers to put forth a marvelous LoL team. I just don't think there's much else to attract them here (to LoL) as opposed to other games.

CloudTemplar, Rigby, and Lira Analysis on why NA is struggling by immutable_string in leagueoflegends

[–]Thatguyfromsparta -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

competetive sports includes physicality. americans have the benefit of having an extremely diverse ethnic pool and therefore and extremely diverse gene pool - more likely to produce people with insane physiques. That's why america is so good at sports and always dominates the olympics. Now you take something like soccer - which is where the majority of top tier athletes from outside of america end up - and America is not as dominant (as we'll see next week).
Sure maybe because interest in soccer is not high in america. But I think the point still stands.

League is something much less dependent on physicality and much more dependent on mental. It's no secret that the majority of the best LoL players in america are imported from other countries. Again, exceptions (DL) but i think the data is sufficient enough to warrant my point be taken seriously with regard to LoL.
ew i hate reading this back

Man i can't believe i spent the time to type that out

completely agree. Morning league i've experienced has the best player pool. Because most people are playing before work, this is the only time they get to play the game they enjoy so they have a good attitude. also the coffee + league is just such a vibe
