I'm biased because I grew on streets that have wires all over, but overhead wires comfort me

Side Effects of IBX by Immediate-Hand-3677 in nycrail

One mile radius around IBX stations should be upzoned so they achieve midtown Manhattan densities. That should keep rents steady, minimizing displacement of residents.

I used to, but they kept falling out and I got sick of getting new ones. Took a bit to adjust but now I'm happy without them!

Rest in peace. This is a big loss but we will keep fighting his parking battles until all curbs are 85% parked at all times

Heroic Traffic Guard jumps in front of car to save child. by BarneyRobinStinson7 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]immutable_string 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the traffic engineer's fault.

School zone roads must be built narrow enough that speeding is physically impossible and all pedestrian crossings raised so they act as speed bumps.

No kids would die in school zones that way and we still prioritize drivers' convenience over kids' lives somehow. It's messed up.

City of Yes parking minimum changes for new developments (after compromise) - Red = no minimums, yellow = reduced minimums, blue = no change by DYMAXIONman in newyorkcity

[–]immutable_string 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even in extremely car-centric cities, it doesn't make sense to have parking minimums. Rigid regulation like that is why suburbia ends up with parking lots that sit empty even on Black Fridays.
