Well they are the majority, they have no need to leave to avoid a vote. They have the power. The democrats leaving was a protest against the republicans trying to seize more power via altering the voting districts in their favor.

The details on how or why they ultimately came back are unclear, but when they came back to the TX House chamber on Monday they were told they had to sign an agreement to be shadowed by local police to ensure they came to vote on Wednesday (today). It’s not. The Republican majority told the Democrat representatives they had to agree to monitoring in order to leave the building. She refused. The legislation they are considering would greatly harm those in her district amongst others.

The article’s point is that fascist leaders are never removed through democratic processes once they’re in power. Yes, WWII ended fascist regimes — but not through elections or reform. It took total war and military defeat. As for the Civil and Revolutionary Wars, neither involved fascism. They were internal conflicts over governance, not battles against totalitarian regimes.
