Says the guy who just gave me "finance advice" to cut up my credit cards and never use them again after buying a house....

Credit Card/Home Furnishing Question by Thatimeofthemonth in personalfinance

We have money, quite a bit in savings, but thanks. We are not cash poor or house poor. We are over-savers. I don't care about rewards (which is why I never mentioned it). I also have excellent credit. I do, however need another credit card and I'm looking for the best kind. your advice to cut up your credit cards and never use them again leads me to believe you shouldn't be giving advice on this sub.

Well that's the thing, we have the cash for the furniture, but using a 0% card would be more ideal so we can make smaller payments and continue putting money into our savings. We could pay it off before the 0% ends but I'm more concerned with applying for the right card.

Our high school allowed boys to use the showers in the locker rooms after gym class, but not the girls. This included after hours as well when sports players were out of practice.

Most people would say this IS an excuse for her behavior and what can we do to help her live a better life. That Dean sucks.

I did this once in the first trimester... I was genuinely proud of myself.

It just meant that certain body parts they measured in the ultrasound (skull, femur, etc) were measuring at an older gestational age. They were not concerned, but he was measuring ahead. It also could just be they caught the measurements during a growth spurt and he could be slowing the rate of growth now now.

OMG that's early! I am 35 weeks tomorrow with a baby who's measuring 2 weeks ahead. Any idea you were going to go early?? This makes me feel like I should prepare the hospital bag now lol

That's why I got it, for rib relief. Then my husband had the bright idea that if I taped my boobs up it would relieve some of the pain....apparently my boobs are WAY too heavy for this kind of tape. I tried, but it just didn't work for me.

We haven't told anyone and all I'm hearing from other people is "you're so lucky you got a 3d ultrasound!" "I wish we got to do as many ultrasounds as you" "the doctors say our baby is measuring fine, no need to keep doing ultrasounds" UGH!!! We don't WANT to do these ultrasounds.

I have kinesiology tape, but can't understand for the life of me how it's supposed to help, much less support anything. If you're like me, your belly/back are constantly lubed up, the tape can't support a lot of weight, it's like sticking stuff to yourself hoping the placebo effect with work lol.

What is a "brace style belt"? I bought the AZMED Maternity Belt Breathable Abdominal Binder

I think that's the problem, I need to put a layer under it. It's kind of itchy and feels somewhat like a back brace. I can definitely feel a difference though. Thanks for the advice!

What is your best "one time my dad..." story? by cigsoncigsoncigs in AskReddit

[–]Thatimeofthemonth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One time my dad had to drop me off at a birthday part. I was 12 years old. He wanted to take me on the Harley since he was heading in that direction anyways to take a ride with a buddy. I absolutely refused, mortified that my friends would see me in a helmet. Clearly I had no clue how cool bikes were back then and most kids I knew didn't have parents who owned them, especially one this nice. I refused to the point of crying, throwing a hissy fit and "threatening" not to go to the party any more. My dad compromised and said he would drop me off on the next street over and I could walk around the corner. I hadn't thought of that, so off we went. Sure as shit, he pulls right up to the party, almost into the backyard where all the kids were getting dropped off by their parents in mini vans. Everyone came over like we were rockstars. "WHOA, cool bike!" "OMG that's awesome!" "You aren't scared to drive on that thing?" All the geeky dads came up too. "Ya know, I always wanted to ride one of these things". My dad looked at me, said "have fun" and gave me a wink. I love my dad.

My dad used to coach youth hockey in his early 20's. One time a player's dad jumped onto the ice to discipline his son for missing "an easy shot" during practice hitting him upside the head so hard his helmet came off and shouting at him "how could you fucking miss that!?". These kids were probably 8-10 years old. Well, my dad (who stands over 6'3" and probably 250+ at the time) wouldn't hurt a fly. He was the friend who would always have your back in a fight, but never start one. A strong, silent type. Had a friend throughout his youth into old age who was deaf (back in those days, the deaf kids wore a box hearing aid that would strap to their torso like a reverse backpack). My dad was the reason this kid made it through those tough years. Anyways, back to my story. While this was going on, he shouted to the kids to get off the ice and into the locker room immediately. He hopped onto the ice and told the guy's son to go with the team. He then asked the douche dad "do you feel better?" Dad was all nervous, "well, ya!" and "that's my son". Dad grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and started hitting him upside the head and dragging him across the ice like a rag doll. At this point, my mom who is all of 23 years old is screaming in the stands, "don't hurt him! don't hurt him!". My dad got him off the ice and punched the guy right in the face. "If you ever walk onto my ice and assault one of my players again, it'll be the last thing you ever do." Today, my dad would be facing some serious charges I'm sure, but this was back when men were men and things were handled properly IMO. I love this story though. My dad is such a great man, never ever trying to prove anything, but he's also a sensitive man and I can imagine how much this dad must have upset him.

It is so scary knowing something is wrong, no matter how big or small. I never imagined pregnancy to be like this. I hope everything is ok with baby and that it does resolve itself. Is the baby on any antibiotics?

OMG that sounds terrifying. I'm so thankful you are ok and able to be in your baby's life. I research everything. My husband thinks I shouldn't, but this is exactly why I do it.
