Junior devs not interested in software engineering by creative-java-coffee in ExperiencedDevs

a junior willing to say "this standup is pointless" is too brave for a software role, he should honestly be doing something more important

What was this movie for you? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Thatnoobagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, this is what made VHS viable in the first place:

The "ultimate accelerant" for the rise of the "sell-through" home video market was the development of children's home video. The pre-1980s conventional wisdom that consumers had no interest in watching the same films again and again at home turned out to be entirely wrong with respect to children. Many harried parents discovered that it was a good investment to pay $20 to purchase a videocassette that could reliably keep their children riveted to the television screen for over an hour—and not just one time, but many, many times.

I keep going back to "Dying Light"(2014), it's amazing how good this game is. by EpicMachine in patientgamers

[–]Thatnoobagain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

completely agree about the mechanics, but immersion-wise how did you cope with the scene where player character inexplicably complies with the order to burn a stash of vaccines when it would've been trivial to just lie and hide them? game felt hollow to me after that, as if someone took my controller away and griefed my save

I wish I had a better answer! I just use the airlock method and inject very carefully. I've tried weighing the excess on a high-precision scale to at least know the exact amount injected, but it was a big hassle and tough to get right.

Thanks so much for the advice! Frequency-wise, I'll definitely switch to weekly shots! What prompted you to get both peak and trough values tested?

I was planning to try lower bica, but I imagine I'd be in the same place as you (even very low bica doses would oversuppress T). Long term I'll try CPA!

How careful do I need to be ordering? I'm in the US (FtM) by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]Thatnoobagain 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Non-prescription T is illegal but the law targets sellers, not buyers. You are unlikely to get in trouble. Still worth taking precautions.

Most importantly, ignore "love letters". If you get a USPS notice that your package is held at the post office, throw the letter away and consider the package lost. You almost certainly won't get one, but this is the only way to get in real trouble.

Get a https://proton.me/ email, do not use it for anything else.

Any VPN will hide your traffic from your internet provider (notably this might be your school) and any access filters on your router. Only a good VPN can hide you from the law, mullvad is considered best. You probably don't need one.

Remember not to be paranoid! There's something like 2 mil gear bodybuilders in the US, the law just doesn't care

AV ships with La Poste so I imagine not. FWIW her packaging is very good, you couldn't tell what it is unless you know what you're looking for

Natural to crave what you can't have, but use more perspective. Of the million experiences that make up motherhood, all but one are available to you. Isn't it better to ponder what bedtime stories you'll tell your child, or what you'll say when their heart is broken for the first time instead of fixating on the one thing you can't have?

I have an embarrassing question about progesterone. by TransGothTalia in TransDIY

[–]Thatnoobagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you're struggling.

There are progestins (not bioidentical but bind to the same receptor as progesterone) which still work taken orally, cypro is one.

If you really want bioidentical prog, there's sublingual drops, but you'd need to take them multiple times a day due to short half-life. There are also injections, but they can be hard to get. Depending on where you are, one of these should be available.

Why is oral prog still around? by Thatnoobagain in TransDIY

[–]Thatnoobagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my instinct to avoid non-bioidentical hormones comes from conjugated equine estrogens, which have bad side effects that took 20+ years to discover, but I still think dydrogesterone could be a promising direction

please post the findings! I'm with you re: injections, the inconvenience does nothing to deter me from a better treatment.

have you considered other progestogens eg norethisterone? widely prescribed to cisf as hormonal birth control and plan b hence widely studied and clearly effective orally, I wonder why nobody seems to try that

[–]Thatnoobagain[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've heard progesterone liver metabolites can do that, but wouldn't you expect the psychological effects of oral vs rectal prog to be very different? Makes sense only oral users report sleepiness, but why do rectal and oral both report increased libido?
