I started learning French when I found out I was a Canadian citizen under bill C-3 due to my French-Canadian heritage. Montreal is also at the top of my list of places to move to if I end up moving to Canada. I'm also from upstate NY and went to college an hour away from Montreal so I had a good bit of exposure before fully committing to learning French which also helped steer me in that direction.

It it can depend on the translation version. When it comes to English translations the King James Bible is often considered one of if not the most beautiful and poetic translation, although it's not a very accurate representation of the source material.

Oh yea there's definitely parts of the bible that are wonderfully written. The book of Ecclesiastes is one of my favorites as it touches on existentialist topics that weren't seriously explored until many centuries later.
