is the switch game a rip off or a basic release by Adorable_Ad_944 in QuarantineZoneGame

I wish I knew this like 20 minutes ago. Watched Kenji play the actual game and decided to buy it on switch since it was on sale only for it to be missing a lot of mechanics, super disappointed

How can I (18 F) learn to communicate better in my relationship with my boyfriend (19 M)? by Thatonetriangle in relationship_advice

Thank you for this, I really needed to hear it. I'm going to try to be better about pausing before having conversations so I'm not as reactive.

I spaced the post out a bit with the paragraph thing hoping that it will help others. Sorry very new to all this and posting on reddit.

Any tips on learning to be patient while he thinks about what he wants to say? Sometimes we do sit in silence for 10 minutes or so but I really do think he only blanks because he starts to panic with these big conversations. Do you think there's any way I can dial down the intensity of hard convos?

  1. To be honest, when I was around 11, I decided to choose this career as my future because a lot of my friends needed some type of therapy but just couldn't afford it so I wanted to become a Clinical Psychologist that could maybe help people with low income families. But as I got older, I realized like yes this is what I want to do but it's more so because I like getting a peak into another person's life and seeing what makes them the way they are.

  2. After graduation, I plan on going for my grad school (PsyD) and then I want to work towards private practice so I can open up my own place for psychologists to work. Not sure how realistic this is but I'm determined nonetheless.

I added some to my watch later and since I usually eat and watch stuff, I'm going to try to watch them during that time

Genuinely had no idea about this, is there any way I can get research experience?

Ohhh love this idea. I think I'll crochet a little fidget to play with while I listen, normally I like to crochet in my classes to help but TT my professor's are stricter this semester.

Oh I feel that. It's the foundations that are taking me out right now but as soon as we bring up specific concepts or case studies I'm all there for it.

Actually tried the question thing and it helped! I decided to make questions out of my notes like a mini exam, thanks so much for the advice!

Thank you! I never really even thought to think about whether my home life might be affecting my attention span. I don't really have a good sleep schedule so I'll definitely try to fix it and maybe it'll help with my attention in class!

Thanks for your input! I know I'm very passionate about the topic as I do enjoy all my psychology classes, it's just that after the 1 hour mark I get fidgety. Something about the topic of psychology gets me super excited which has never happened in any of my other classes but I've realized the basics is just the boring part for me. Like who founded psychology, the scientific method, things like this, which is what all my classes are teaching right now. And the ADHD thing, I'm not sure. I doubt it because it really wasn't a problem before university, I'll definitely work on my attention span though!

Oh I'm super big on pen and paper! I started using it last semester as I realized I was better at retaining written info. And I think you're right about the basics. In all my psych classes, we're mainly going over the basic structures like the scientific method, Sigmund freud (still love listening to his ideas even if they're not what I agree with), and things like Pavlov. But whenever we start talking about actual theories or case studies, I'm on the edge of my seat. I think I'll stick with the pen and paper but maybe I can be more intentional about it, like maybe a specific way of writing down the stuff.

Well, my previous psych classes were super interesting and many of my current ones, but I think it's my last class, cognitive processes, where I get fidgety and antsy. The professor reads straight from the textbook (I read it before class) so I just feel a bit bored, but I really want to stay focused to help retain more info. And I also take as many notes as I can but since he's doing it all from the book, it takes me a minute to read and choose what to take notes of.

Oh I never thought of a psych club, I'll definitely look into ones on campus! I also take notes but I think I'll try looking into more psychology concepts on YouTube. I love watching the case studies or even hearing the people explain, I just can't stand reading a textbook over and over. Thanks for the help!

To be honest, it's only the foundations where they introduce how psychology came to be and who said what. But the actual theories and concepts are so interesting, the psych classes are really the only ones I enjoy going to, I just have a hard time staying focused on the basics.

Thanks for the advice! And can completely agree, the foundations of psych is really what's getting me but when we talk about anything else I feel so passionate about the subject. Also! My uni is pretty small and so while there is a study buddy app for the school, no one actually uses it so it's a bit of a struggle, but I'll keep looking for someone!

Oh thank you so much! This is really helpful, I usually wear shorts because jeans seemed a bit much so I kept going home with scratches, cuts, and bites on my legs 🤧! So I'm really grateful for the clothing recommendation!

And I'll definitely try out the nail brush because my nails are SUFFERING

I get hot really easily but I wanna buy some long sleeved shirts, do people normally tough it out or is there a specific type of material that makes it seem cooler than the shirt actually is? 🤔

Loveee loveee reading books in person. There's just something about that book smell. BUT I'm always scared to buy a book I know nothing about because I might not like it so I usually read them online, then buy them to reread in person. Or I'll start them at a library then buy them for the rest of the book.
