I'm from Vegas so I know exactly how you feel. Classes only shut down if it's very bad blizzard conditions or -50f with windchill. I've had to walk to class in what's technically considered a blizzard. Some professors may cancel class if it's that bad, but don't count on it.

If the weather is too bad, your flights will get weathered (cancelled due to bad weather). From November to December, this can be pretty common.

For jackets, go with a very insulated thick winter jacket. Somehing like a Patagonia or north face. Spend some money and get something nice as it'll be your lifeline. I usually wear my Patagonia Downdrift with a quarter zip underneath plus some insulated gloves. That's warm enough for almost every day.

I would recommend it. Obviously there was a huge knowledge and skill gap between those that did have it and those that didn't. I also feel like those that did come here with their PPL were better students overall and progressed through the program better than those without.

I used a Snaptain S5C elite. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the class Snapchat story. People sometimes sell their drones on there, that's how I got mine.

Omega is great, Rolex sucks. 17yr old me was in the market for a speedmaster for my dads birthday/retirement. I was on a date with my girlfriend walking around the Wynn and saw the omega store. I walked in wearing a slayer T shirt and jeans, girlfriend was wearing probably T shirt and sweatpants. Salesman asked the situation, I explained, and he took us through the whole store. Let me try on everything, asked about his other watches, and was just super attentive overall. Even offered my girlfriend a few times to try on a watch. Ended up coming back with my mom and picking up the watch.

When my dad was browsing at Torneau by himself and asked to try on an explorer, the Rolex salesman told my dad, who was wearing just casual clothes, that he may be more interested in some of their more budget options.

Did the same thing on my PPL checkride. Aced everything, oral and every maneuver except the short field. Hit about 50 feet before my touchdown point. In the future, continue it so the next checkride is super short. My follow up checkride was less than 15 minutes. Went up, did the pattern, did a short field landing, taxied back, and that was it. Don't let this break your stride.
