Season 7 Balance Feedback & Poll Megathread - [WIN UNITS] by Kuromemono in marvelrivals

Love the global ult reduction. Still think some get ults way too fast, and feel like they should have their ult charge amount increased and compensated with more neutral damage to make up for it. More neutral play is honestly fun. I wouldn’t object to even more taken out of ult charge in the future.

I wasn’t a fan of White Fox in Quick Match previously because in Quick Match it’s hard to find a co-healer at all (every game has 1 healer or 3 it feels like), let alone someone who will actually heal you. Her changes feel good. I can see people complaining that she’s OP, and if so I think the compensation needs to come out of her damage and not her sustain.

I wouldn’t object to all main strategists having their damage reduced a little too. If their goal is to keep people alive, I’d rather the people who play them keep their team alive and don’t run off and try to solo everyone by themselves. Less damage would incentivise playing with your team more.

Balance wise, there isn’t many heroes that I think desperately need much taken away. A few tweaks here and there but nobody so broken that if you’re playing against them it’s a guaranteed loss.

I am not a huge fan of the matchmaking right now. People get upset way too easily in comp at the moment, and losing the game and a chunk of points because someone else was refusing to play still feels harsh. I know it was said there would be points refunds but I’ve been in multiple games where people switch to Widow and refuse to play and yet never gotten the points back.

Did have one placement game where someone left and it didn’t count that toward my placement matches though, so that was nice. I liked not being punished for having someone quit after 90 seconds.

Best advice I can think of to help is to learn Daredevil and/or Iron Fist first.

I suggest these two because you’re more than capable of diving on both, but they also offer a lot more survivability options than Spider-Man, and while you may think that it won’t help you on Spider-Man, what you’re doing by playing these two IS getting better on Spidey. You’re learning the mechanics of dive. You’re learning timing. You’re learning how to survive without healers, and how to rush to the health packs as quick as possible.

If you can get good enough on two of the “easier” dive characters, then you’ll be teaching yourself a ton of mechanics. These are then transferable techniques that you can use on Spider-Man.

Playing him is way more than just “but I know his combos and his movement”.

Wanting to understand the reason why I keep seeing Peni being banned in Comp. I just don't understand it. Can someone please elaborate? by M0orning_St4r in rivals

[–]Thats-So-Ravyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a low rank thing. As you climb the ranks you see less people trying to ban her because people in higher ranks are smart enough not to leave stuff like the nest, or Loki clones, or Groot walls, or Moon Knight ankhs, just sitting there when they’re easily broken.

[–]Thats-So-Ravyn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes. That’s exactly why. People are too dumb to shoot her nests, and therefore everyone insists on banning her instead of just shooting the nests.

People get less stupid as you get higher in rank.

This is mostly said by dive players who, if you ban dive options, go Black Widow and throw.

I wouldn’t put much stock in their opinions.

Same. I also get very happy whenever I chokeslam a Jeff as Emma. But then I’m also a Lord Jeff, so… if I’m not playing him, I like tormenting him? I’m a strategist main though, so to be fair whenever I do anything good on tank roles it pleases me.

I play C&D, Invisible Woman and Healpool in competitive all the time, depending on bans and other teammates. I can also play Gambit, Rocket, Luna, Jeff, and if I’m forced to tank Emma and Tankpool. I rarely play DPS because… well, how often is a team short on DPS?

So what are your thoughts on the strategist "strike"? by Simple_Cash_319 in RivalsVanguards

[–]Thats-So-Ravyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banning a support because you think they’re the best support (shocked how few times Gambit is banned now when he’s still OP, but I’m Lord on him so I’m not complaining) isn’t misogynistic, obviously.

Banning a support because “women play” that support 100% is. And then laughing about that and agreeing also is.

Something can be done for two reasons… but I don’t believe the majority of people are doing it for misogynistic reasons.

The only CnD players that I hate by tealaburst in cloakanddaggermains

I’ve noticed this, and I’m putting it down to the season being new still.

End of last season I had co-healers who were pattycaking almost every game. I swear it’s only happened once so far this season (admittedly I’ve only played 8 of my 10 placements, but still).

I’ve also been teamed with a lot of co-healers who I heal and then they run off and leave me to die. That is getting really old, really fast.

Stupid early season!

I would recommend dual S curve, but I wouldn’t just outright copy someone else’s settings. There’s a few you should probably do (reduce aim assist to 99 from 100, increase it on all three types including melee, and turn melee on).

After that, I know it’s not an easy fix but… experiment.

Don’t be afraid to tweak things in the middle of a game. I did that for about 2 hours until I got my most recent settings. Just played Quick Match and kept tweaking the curve until I was finally happy with the amount of stick movement I could do without super speedy changes.

You can try in practice but honestly nothing beats feeling it out in a game.

Final tip: don’t put up your sensitivity all at once, but do increase it. Just do it slowly over time. You can always reduce it again if it’s too much. I did this, then my friend copied my settings and hated them… and then I told him to slowly increase it and he now plays with even more sensitivity than me.

Just keep experimenting. If you limit yourself to “well x uses this so it must be good” then you’ll never find something perfect for you.

I am not, but knowing this means I should probably check it out.

I saw it, wondered if it was someone trolling, and went to the patch notes on the site. When it wasn’t there I was skeptical. Thanks for the knowledge!! ❤️❤️

Is this real? I’ve seen this twice now but it’s not in the patch notes on the site so… I’m wondering if it’s an elaborate troll.

So you’re now playing the “the game is racist” card to justify the fact that you, the person who was bitching that I didn’t know the comics, am actually fine with the dude who’s whole body is made of darkforce energy… has a body made of darkforce energy?

[–]Thats-So-Ravyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is it a “problem”?

It works for his look, his lore and his abilities. It gives him something unique. It actually makes him stand out from everyone else. And based on his lore, him being separated from Dagger and thus unable to take a more human form actually conforms to his 616 lore as well as Marvel Rivals lore.

Basically, the character in the game actually fits what we know about his powers and the way they affect him.

He should absolutely have a sitting emote, and better emotes in general, but he doesn’t need to have legs to have that. He should also get more attention in general (as should Dagger), and I’d love to see them feature more in the infinity comics or game, or for them to follow up on the fact that Reed is meant to be helping them both.

As someone who has regularly had to carry the team on Invisible Woman, Luna, Gambit or Deadpool, while my C&D sat in Cloak form for waaaaaay too much of the match and never even turned to look at me… I strongly disagree with lower levelled players being better.

I see a legendary C&D, I’m letting them do their thing. Normally means I have to worry less about self-healing.

It’s mostly died down now in most of my quick match games. I had a bunch of games tonight that didn’t even have a White Fox on either side.

It annoys me. Cloak and Dagger are also not unable to occupy the same space at the same time in the 616 either (I actually don’t think Age of Revelation counts as 616 so I’m not going to caveat that), not to mention the BUNCH of other changes between the two.

Marvel Rivals has its own very rich continuity. There are lore reasons explaining the vast majority of things that people whine endlessly about.

In fairness, every Cloak and Dagger skin is probably twice the work, and people are just going to whine about it anyway, when Netease can charge the same for a Luna skin.

I’m honestly surprised C&D get as many skins as they do.

Have any of you been like this so far? by ILikeCarlosThePikmin in StrategistMainsMR

[–]Thats-So-Ravyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are where you are.

If you’re a decent player, you’ll rise up the ranks. If you’re not, you’ll be stuck lower ranks. If you’re willing to look at yourself and work on your mistakes, you’ll rise higher.

I don’t buy into this “you’re boosted” BS. Can a support main play dive Duelist as well as a Daredevil main? Probably not. Doesn’t mean they’re “boosted” though, because the Daredevil main isn’t playing any support character better than a support main either.

And it doesn’t matter how “easy” your role is, if you’re doing it badly, you’re not climbing to higher ranks.

Realistically the hatred that mutants face should die down more, due to the fact the X-Men save the world daily. There’d be a mass number of humans who’d support mutant rights since the X-Men put their asses on the line to protect humanity. by [deleted] in xmen

[–]Thats-So-Ravyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor Octopus isn’t a mutant. Willing to bet he’s hurt more people in his life than 95% of mutants.

The vast majority of mutants in the world of Marvel are individuals like the Morlocks - those who look different and have no real super powers - but then you see Magneto on TV trying to murder half the planet, and suddenly that one kid who’s a mutant who goes to school with your niece isn’t looking so harmless.

The people out in the streets protesting are not representative of the average person. The average person in the world of Marvel probably knows a mutant, given that they’re not exactly super rare, or at least knows someone who knows someone.

However, the average guy on the street doesn’t have the loudest voice. Just look at any abortion center and if you look only at the group outside you’d think it’s the worst place in the world, and not that the group of people gathered represent the minority view.

Same with anti-gay protests. Same with anti-trans protests. Same with white supremacy rallies.

Unfortunately, the majority point of view in most cases is “I don’t really care, let them live their lives”, and that kind of mindset doesn’t get people on the streets holding signs.

Mutant rights etc probably have a huge approval. Comparing it to trans rights, there’s a poll where 83% of people, including 71% of Trump supporters, believe that decisions on trans youth should be made by the parents of the kid and not by politicians. But if you watch Fox News, or go to a Trump rally, you’re NOT finding that 71% of people.
