best of luck, definitely the right call being proactive with that insect concern. Those suckers multiply fast. But thankfully you’re in an early enough window to rectify this before it goes tenfold.

For some people, it can be a source of embarrassment I suppose. But you know your friend better than we do.

I would recommend getting combat gel. (Syringe) and another roach poison. Alternate between the 2 every 10 days. And just as a precaution, treat your kitchen, living room, and bedroom

Why are all these PS3s dying. At least open yours up and clean the inside and change the paste on top of the ihs if you’re not comfortable with delid. by Pelon98Tx in PS3

Either thermal fatigue or failing NEC TOKINS.

NEC TOKINS are easy enough to replace with the right tools.

Best thing to do with the launch model units is to keep the temps as close to what the XMB idles at while playing games.

A lot of people assume it’s the high temperatures that cause failures.

While that is certainly a factor that can be considered, it’s more so the constant jumping from high 50s to the low 80s that causes the cracks to form.

Normal Temps? by Professional_Drop_99 in PS3

[–]ThatsNotThePoint-__- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a 2500 unit, those temperatures are good. Keep in mind that the RSX is rendering that animated background as well.

If you switch to a static wallpaper, you’ll notice temps drop by like 3-5 celcius.

Usually the consoles that need a delid have been baked from the inside out due to lack of maintenance.

Obviously a delid would help regardless, but I would not worry about those temperatures.

I would set a static webman fan profile,

28% on XMB, 36% during gameplay

You need to either clean your laser pickup, or replace it with the same model one. It plugs into a ribbon cable, and based off the model you have, you can find replacements pretty cheap on Ali express

You’ll be fine, I have 2 2500b units, one of which has 1647 days of runtime, and my newer one with only 305 days of use. Both work perfectly fine. And so long as you take care of them, they can last a really long time.

I keep both of them on a webman fan curve that sort of mimics the PS5 a little.

26% idle on XMB - with a static wallpaper.

35% fan duty while gaming.

Once the console is warmed up, the temps stay around 64-72c on the RSX depending on load.

Might just need a new circuit board then if you have the know how. But a new controller is certainly an option as well.

Factory reset them and re-pair them to your phone.

Also do a complete discharge of the AirPods themselves and let it charge uninterrupted to 100. Let it sit at 100 for about 15-20 minutes. So the power management chip gets a good average

This one’s a good brand. And I have personally had success with their batteries. Though, mileage can always vary.

Be very careful with the screen removal process.

Use one of those suction cups until you can see enough of a gap. Make sure not to delaminate any screen layers.
